I currently have an unlocked BlackJack I'm using with T-Mobile that I have:
-Unlimited Internet/Hotspot for $19.99
-Unlimited messaging plan for all 5 lines on my family plan for $9.99.

I'm thinking that there is no way I can currently get this phone without getting it with one of their plans. I called T-Mobile and the rep (who was clueless about the G1 and had me on hold for a few minutes while he read his memo for the first time today) told me that if I got the $25 plan which gives me 400-messages I should really still have unlimited messaging since the family plan unlimited messaging covers all lines.

What do you guys think? Can I really get away with just paying $5 more a month and keeping unlimited messaging on my line and the other 4 lines I have?

ok this is how it goes...you're basically going to have your own plan kinda thing even though ur on a family plan. Best advice to you is pay the $35 for unlimited! it will be soooo worth it in the end. I promise :)

If their billing system is anything like others that I've worked with, they'll have the "main" rate-code that you are getting charged for on the primary account of the family plan, and the "secondary" lines will have codes just to let the system know "don't charge this fool for messaging!"

So, if I'm right (which I always am, I think)...you should be fine with the $25 plan. I'd give it a shot, and if something DID happen, we all know that T-Mob will gladly refund you due to the misinformation.

Regardless, I don't think you'll be charged.
