OK. This is a topic on what phone you had before you got your G1.
Tell us what you liked about your old phone then tell us what you like about your G1.

My phone before my G1 was the Tmobile Dash.
I chose the Dash because it had a QWERTY keyboard, a bigger screen, I could put movies on it, tethering capability, full web browsing, the style and look, video camera, NES Emmu. So this was a big increase from my Moto flip phone.

I like almost everything about the G1 so far or I wouldnt have bought it. My only dislikes are: No video camera, no tethering, no 3.5mm jack, had to get it with a 2 year contract. I hate 2 year contracts and this is my first with the G1. (I believe in 1 year contracts only) Ill post back if I change my mind about my G1.

So lets hear about your old phone compared to the G1.

Well my phone was the bb pearl I still have it it is the 8100 so its not up to datr but I loved that phone it did everything and more.

But now I have the G1 and I won't ever go back to anything else the
Pros to this phone:
Is everytthing. And I love the way it looks
The cons:
Lots of hardware issues creaky hinge loose screen. And the screen isn't straight when in the keyboard is showing
But over all I will never go back to ant other phone again

well we all kno wut the G1 can do so ima talk about my old phone. I had 2 phones which i swith bac n forth depends on how i feel.....the Nokia N73 N Samsung U600, things i like most about my old phones we're the i could send multi pics under 1 msg, i could forward another msg//and or copy n paste a msg (same thing), camera on my N73 took beautiful pics and much faster and had crisp stereo sound. O not to mention my N73 had 2 cameras, 1 on the bac which was a 3.2 MP Carl Zeiss lens, and a front VGA camera for video call. My samsung was a beautiful crafted slider, 10.7 mm thin, i think it was the thinnest or smallest phone, but anyway; camer was a bit slower then the G1 but had video. I think i miss my old phone LOL well at least those features, o forgot 1 thing they both had BLUETOOTH 2.0 A2DP wtf HTC i need my stereo bluetooth i have headsets i liked to use instead of these lame ones u sent us with in the box!!!!! THX anywayz

i had 2 phones

i had the iphone

and the sidekick lx

the thing i liked about the iphone was how
easy it made everything, down to finding a number to a restaurant, or movie theater,
and the mobile banking with BofA! and definitely the built in 8 gig ipod! and the battery life on that thing was the BEST!

the things I liked about my sidekick lx was definitely the qwerty key board!!!!
and how easy it made txting or writing down a note or something
and the AIM, the AIM was the LEGENDARY!!! lol there has yet to be a phone with a better IM client then the sidekick!

and now i have the g1... i just wish they would upgrade the IM client or something! cause its REEAAALLY bad! that should seriously be their main concern for this month!
everyone i know that has a g1 is complaining about the aim! believe it or not, this is a maaajor issue!
aim is my life!

So lets hear about your old phone compared to the G1.
I was an early adopter of the Sprint Treo and used several versions of that smartphone before the G1. The Treo had the advantage and disadvantage of being based on the well-developed Palm OS. There were many third-party apps from the start, and the interface was both clean and functional. However, the old OS limited the phone's development. Palm is working on a new OS but really dropped the ball in managing their limited resources and is way behind schedule.

Time to move on which is why I went with the G1. (I was also attracted to the iPhone but there is no ATT coverage in my area.) It seems like a solid, versatile unit with an excellent screen. A good choice for launching Android because it has something for everyone. Hard to use one-handed like the Treo but far superior for web browsing. If only the T-Mobile network was as good as Sprint's in my area.

haven't gotten my G1 yet, but I'm very anxious. Anyways, had a sidekick 3, loved everything from the tmail, to AIM, Yahoo, internet browser till the new way of looking at sites (iphone, g1) came out. umm, loved my sidekick 3 till my screen cracked halfway down, so i had to flip and close everytime to see the full message. it's really annoying. just cant wait till my G1 shows up.
