Hi,
I'm new to the forums and have a couple of questions regarding the G1:
1) I'm from Europe, and am using the T-Mobile network. Other than unlocking the phone, is there anything else I need to do or worry about for using it here, like activation? I know for a fact that the G1 will be coming in a couple of month (a T-Mo exec told me 'soon, just soon', so I guess there won't be problems...
2) I've heard stories about some Bluetooth flaws, no video playback and other. I know that the phone is still "work in progress", so I'm not expecting miracles, but will this be fixed in further firmware upgrades? Is it already fixed with mods or patches?
3) Since it uses Linux, can I use the terminal like on a PC version? Are there any limitations for apps like in the v9.1 Symbian?
4) What is the status with office apps? Except using Google Docs online, can I edit and read documents offline?
5) What are the most common hardware flaws users complain about? I'm pretty familiar with HTC devices (worked for them some time ago), so can someone make a hardware comparison regarding design flaws, usability and other stuff.
6) Is the processor strong enough to handle native video playback, or do I need to encode stuff to play it on the G1? If it can play video...
7) And the last one: I'm planning on buying it off eBay - what is the max price I should pay for it (without shipping, just the device)? And is there another place online where I can get I cheaper?
Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to buy the thing and then be disappointed with stuff I could have known earlier :)
