Hey everyone :p,

I have noticed as of late that a lot of our great forum posters, that were posting on this site before the release of the phone have kind of gone into hibernation status. There were a lot of helpful, funny, informative people posting on this site and now I am just seeing a majority of punks posting just saying TMOB sux, or OMF I hate my G1 anyone else??

I assume that most of the people that left or do not post here anymore are because of that reason also. I really like this forum and dont really want to leave but I know there are a few other forums out there that cater to the G1 and development of the android OS. If you guys and gals are still around lurking on these forums please let me know if you have packed your bags and moved onto greener pastures, I.E. other forums I would love to post and read threads that actually bring something positive to the community.

And P.S. for all you whiney little b$#ches that have nothing better to do than spam how much you hate or dislike something, or the inability to get what you want from customer service, which by the way I have no idea why all the complaints I have had nothing but good service and fast response to my only issue with the G1 and my new one is already on its way. Maybe you should have your parents get on the phone with Tmob and talk to them since it doesnt seem like you can figure out how o deal with CS.

Lol I still see a couple of them posting around. I don't stay around on the forums as much either, it seems there's way more drama on here that goes beyond phones that shouldn't be.

Yes, I sense the disturbance in the force as well... growing pains, I guess. Look at the number of users now vs pre-release.

;-) Great vnc2go post right now. I was actually just thinking it may be starting to pick back up a bit. Lots of negative press though has hurt the community. People will get over the bad press, they'll be back - Once the initial bash fest is over that is..

You are so right. I think that the anticipation of getting the phone made everyone more open to talk. Also a lot of people are still playing/trying to play with their phone.

I also don't see as much participation by mods and staffers either. Would like to see more reviews, how-to's, etc.

What do you consider OG?

You'll see people come and go. The diehard Android fans will stay :)

You're very right.

Too much "Pleaes halp, mine phone is sux" and too many duplicate threads.

I made a thread talking about that, and the mod's told me I was complaining and that it was fair to post duplicate threads.... Take it up with them if you believe it's wrong.

Hey I wasn't here pre release, well I was but only reading stuff, I joined when I got my phone. I like it here, the complaints are a pain, and I think they will stop soon. As soon as all the haters give their phone back. Props 2 the people that love the G1 & are being patient, b/c we know that things are going 2 get better and the iphone will bow down 2 Android. I'm here 4 the long haul. :D

I think part of the problem is that the "G1 sucks, anyone else returning it?" threads are reactionary and cause an avalanche of flame back and forth posts, so those posts tend to clog the "recent posts" section at the top, giving the impression of CONSTANT negativity on this forum. You have to dig a little deeper in the sub-forums for more meaningful stuff. Not sure if there is much that can be done about it within this format.

@Vince: any chance of a G1 browser friendly version of the site coming anytime soon?

i don't know if i'm an OG... but i used to try and post a lot and help out. I even got offered to be a moderator and accepted, but honestly, i'm really busy right now with where i am in life, and don't have time to read around the forum. :(

Oh you mean this isnt the complaint website for the G1? lol I was thinking I had the only working G1 in the world for a min there. But nah I still check the forums almost everyday looking for good posts and info. Im like some of the rest of you though waiting for the bashers to ween off some. It would also be nice to get that "Senior Android" status

I was here before I got my G1 and I plan on sticking around, I try to help out where I can. I agree there are a lot of complainers though, people who didn't so all their research and didn't know what they were getting before they bought.

Cool,
Great to see all you post gives me hope in the forums lol:D.
I would definitely call my self the weakest member of the community.
I love to help my fellow ACers and on the look out for new tips and tricks.
BTW check this link http://www.genoco.com/link/interactive_iphone+starbucks.html out I would love to see an application similar to this hit the market someday, but maybe something with a little more appeal than a Starbucks..... :o

I'm an OG. And still android to the core. So many trolls on here nowadays, it's a lot less rewarding to post. But I still do my part...step in when I need to, do the occasional cleanup job, prevent holy war and the like. But like a few have said, when the haters and trolls get bored, we adults will probably be a bit more active.

Remember, the community is only as great as it's weakest members.

Wait, what?

i tend to get into something fairly hardcore and then it just loses interest, and i move onto the next big thing

i don't feel that way about android at all, it has plenty of staying power, but any high traffic sites are gonna have their share of... well you know

I don't know if I qualify for as OG, but I was here prior to the pre-sale and I continue to stick around. Good info, good community.

I started coming here once I got the phone. I have posted here and there, and just ignore all the flame threads. I want to help people figure out how to do stuff and also am interested in getting apps to the sd card.

I am also a programmer of sorts, so I started working on an app for the Android. Nothing really good yet, just some text. Learning the UI and how to code graphics now.

got to remember this is ANDROIDcommunity, not G1community. the site will continue to grow with the release of new phones supporting android. peeps probably busy with work and life. i myself have been a bit busy with helping campaigning, work and my Lil mini me. haa this site has a lot to offer. some of the Go's will be back and some wont. that's how it is in this forum ish.

one of the things we need to do is make new members feel welcomed and not bash them for making repeat threads that we have seen over and over again. they reply back all funky next thing u know the thread goes sour. some of the old heads probably didn't want to be around that any longer. i know i found it annoying.

I know I lurked around until release day and did not post until I read the threads. I think we are getting a lot of people joining and posting when they have a problem with thier G1's and not taking the time to thoroughly searh the forum for the solutions or read the Knowledge base. We want to be helpful but damn....
Oh and please ban cc1122...his posts are all commercial crap.

Perhaps they Og'd out and all shot themselves. That's all that culture does anyway.

Whats up to all my Og's. I agree with vbreal that a lot of the noobs get bashed for duplicate threads or just being noobs, but all the Og's and Mods have to remember that it was much easier when this forum was first started, to do a simple search. Now it takes you a hour or more just to find anything remotely useful pertaining to your search. In the time it takes to find and read each reply (half which are BS), you can simply start a new thread and hope to get a somewhat intelligent response.

Just a suggestion, why don't a Mod implement a feature such as the reputation icon (which is never used) for negative bashing, flaming, spamming, or any such negative posts that take away from the further building up of our community.

It could work like: If a thread or post is looked upon as negative, each forum member will have the opportunity to hit the negative icon. After a certain number of negative hits, a Mod can warn said member that his or her comments are not appreciated or helpful. If further negative hits are accumulated, Mods can determine to ban or take appropriate action. I think this would work, because not just one or two negative marks can cause damage to members rep, It would make members think about their comments and criticism. Appeals could be made to the Mods, member could post a apology and all could be worked out. A point system which the Mods can determine the number.

I know some of you are going to say you can already report a post, but this would be a little easier. Just an idea.
