By delivered does that mean it will be at my house or leave UPS that day?

Delivered.

So it will be at my doorstep on the 22?

MrGibbage

Yeah, if you think about it, "delivered" is ambiguous. "Oh yeah, we delivered it today" can mean it left the warehouse today. I think the most common and accepted definition though is have it on your doorstep.

It's really not ambiguous to me... ? "SHIPPED" can be ambiguous, but in the shipping process, shipping is leaving, and delivered is receiving.

Yeah, now that I think about, I think you are right. Heh, there's a reason I'm an engineer and not a writer. I expect to have the phone in my grubby little hands on the 22nd.

I use to be UPS Management, Delivered mean at your door step :)

I sure hope they require a signature to deliver the G1

It also says the delivery date is "estimated" and the actual date "may vary."

TMO is usually pretty good about getting stuff out quickly. When the Sidekick 3 dropped I called and ordered it earllly in the morning the day it came out (I was working at 4am at that time.) And it got there the very next day with regular shipping.

I expect to get it on (or even before) the 22nd.

I recently ordered the Sidekick 2008 and it required a signature from my building manager, so I presume the same will be necessary for this.

UPS has instructions on shipments sometimes to not deliver a product to the store till the night before or the day of.

They have them in a gated area usually to protect them, although we still had a problem with iPods getting stolen all the time before.

we can start tracking it on October 20, so if you're close to the warehouse it will be delivered by 22nd

I have a little problem, I preordered my G1, but a couple days ago I find out I will be at a different address on the delivery date. I called tmobile and the lady said she'll put in a request to change the shipping address, but she said "if it's on backorder it won't go through", not really sure why that is. Anyway, if the address change doesnt go through, does anyone know if I could pick it up directly from my local UPS warehouse?

That stinks there has been some talk about a situation that was very close to yours! The guy said he ended up calling UPS and telling them the situation, so i would say keep an eye out around the 20th to see if its shipped and when it is try and call to see what UPS building it will be at so you can hold it there.

You can go to http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/reference and use your 10 digit phone number as a reference. as soon as you see it saying shipped i would call UPS with the number!

I am not counting...is anyone else counting?

Yea you can. Ive done that before actually. BUT heres a better idea. Call UPS on Oct 20th. Have them re-route the package to the address you want. I know this works cause i do it all the time. I ship out at least 200 packages a day in my company and i do this all the time. No extra fee's or time will be spent.

probably best to call UPS and ask them... if you miss a shipment yes you can go pick it up, but its typically not available until the next business day

"LADIES and GENTLEMEN!!! BOYS and GIRLS of ALL AGES!!!
OK, now that I've got everyone's attention, I have a couple'a questions....
First is probably a dumb one, I live in an apartment building, and I probably won't be able to be home when UPS comes, will they let the front-desk sign for my G1? Or does it have to be me that signs for it?
Second, I ordered on 9/29, and up until this past Tuesday, when I would call 611, it would say, "Your order has been received, and is on back-order", etc.... But Tuesday, it added an 'Order Number'. Now this is probably a stupid question too, but, is that my 'Tracking Number', 'Reference Number', or just the 'Order Number' like it says? Thanks in advance!!

Man, I feel like a 'lil' kid on Christmas Eve!!!!!

10-16-2008, 02:16 AM
Im gonna go with YOU have to sign for it since in signing for it, you are accepting the charge for the phone on ur bill. People who changed their mind need nt sign and the phone will be shipped back.

your tracking is your phone number separated by -'s. for example: 123-456-6789

track by reference, if u just add it in the track a shipment it wont work, because the reference # is your main account phone #

RockinRocky

Well, I talked with CS today, and they said that if you live in an apt, and it has a security front-desk, more than likely they well be able to sign for your phone when UPS delivers, and that mine should arrive on the 22nd!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!:D

I'm sure it'll change to the 22nd. From my understanding, there can be some pretty hefty fines for breaking a street date.

Hodgkins, eh? That's a suburb packages of mine go through sometimes. I wonder if yours stopping through there after shipping from Kentucky means mine will likely ship from Kentucky.

I've found the policy to essentially boil down to someone at your delivery address needing to sign for it, regardless of whether or not it's you and whether or not they live there. However, in my experience, if you go pick up the package from the station, they want ID showing that you're either the person it was shipped to, or have the same address as them.

When I called t-mobile to ask the exact same question about the apartment complex thing t-mobile said ANYONE over the age of 18 can sign for the package at your residence, and that if no one is home UPS will then look to the office building to have someone sign for it. We shall see!

Here's another idea for you, I don't know if it'll help, but on the UPS site, there's a link to change your delivery address....
http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/service/delivery_change.html

Hope it helps.....
