they must be doing something real good to do so many upgrades
Just got the R30. Why do you think its a bad thing.
It's a bad thing because some people need to complain.
If Google doesn't update and improve for a few weeks, some people will complain that they aren't doing squat. If Google announces a bug fix, and four or five days pass, people are in an UPROAR... WHERE's MY update??? I ordered this thing WEEKS ago, I live in NEW YORK, fer crying out loud... WHERE's MY UPDDATE???????
if they DO send two, three updates, plus promise to add virtual keyboard in beginning '09, then it's TOO MANY updates!
sheesh... some people simply NEED to complain.

Mines is also still on R19 but i called Customer Care and the rep told me that the R29 updates should finish rolling out by the 11th of this month, i always get OTA's late, even when i had an LX.

people need to complain, i live in NYC, if there were nothing to complain about people would go mad, they should just develop a "Jesus Phone" or a "Miracle-droid", then & only then will people be satisfied.

It is clear by now that people generally don't understand this kind of software and development. The comments about open source show a lack of understanding and anyone who would complain about a build update doesn't understand what builds are. Hell, on a lot of open source stuff there are NIGHTLY builds to download. These builds are small fixes that address bugs a bit at a time and finalize code that didn't make it into the last build. It's not like a new firmware or entirely new OS. For those who are too used to the way of Windows...think of these as the small updates your computer does (probably automatically) whenever it hits windows update...

ya, im not entirely sure why an update its self is a complainable (sp?) "offense".
Now the fact that some people are still sitting on RC19 i think is a little silly. Maybe they should have some sort of blog?, or news site?. That gives what was fixed and a link to download and manually install for those who want updates ASAP.

exactly what i've been asking about from the word go.
Google is bullying AC to take off Android from androidcommunity, yet they cannot start an android blog to notify us of fixes and updates... very poor and again unprofessional.
i just got an update on my ps3 and all i have to do if in doubt is to check the official sony ps3 blog and see what the updates fix. that in itself eliminates a lot of speculation.
oh, i just got my 2nd order placed on Oct 10th. waiting for my replacement though. i dont want ti opeb this 1. its for my wife... early xmas present.

While I have to admit that I love the phone and I love t-mobile I am really disappointes with the way things are being handled with the updates. Some people are on their 3rd upgrades and I have yet to get one update. What possible reason or logic could they be using. Maybe it is me but this just makes no sense.

No problem, i did not even call customer care about that issue, i called in reference to hotspot but i ended up asking because i see it all over the boards here and thats what he told me. Hopefully what he said has some truth to it but then again i guess i'm patient so i can wait.

Updating manually is a pretty simple process for anyone that wants to get the update without having to wait.
These releases are, as stated previously, standard fare for an open source project. This phone is based off of linux. Linux has nightly builds with patches and fixes. It's really not a big deal. If you want it before your phone 'gets it' from t-mobile, just do it yourself. Otherwise, just wait, and it'll get there. If you find the whole idea of releases coming every week or so, you picked the wrong time to buy a G1.
Anyone who has a G1 right now is an early adopter. There are going to be growing pains. It's all of us who will drive and continue to push the development for a bigger and better operating system in the future. All operating systems push out updates. All will be ok.

There will be once someone posts the build version info, then it's just a matter of URL hacking the previous release's URL

It fixes the "jailbreak." There is an article about it on the home page of this site.

I don't have any updates either, but not in a hurry. Now if I don't get it by Nov. 11th, that's when I'll start to have a fit. And no people, I don't feel like doing the manual update.
Go to Settings > About > Build.

I just got the RC30 update over the air. Here is what it says under "Build number" for all interested:
kila-user 1.0 TC4-RC30 116143
ota-rel-keys,release-keys
Kind of strange since I just manually updated the phone to RC29 earlier today. For what it's worth I signed up for T-Mobile on Monday and got my phone in the mail on Tuesday with RC19. My first OTA update was tonight. And in case location is still considered to have something to do with the OTA's, I am in Southeastern, NC on what was previously the Suncom network.

Fantastic, I'm still operating off of RC19.
I'm wondering if I should call customer service and let them know.
Thing is, I'm not sure if they're going my mobile number. Since I have a ported number, maybe that has something to do with it and they just accidentally overlooked me. I'll give it till the 11th and see what happens.
