Hi

yesterday, I bought Xperia x10 with android 1.6.

because I live in Syria, I can't open market app to download and install them.

so I found some apk files to install directly on my phone but I need a way to do it without using market app cause it will not work

I tried to upload ASTRO file manager apk file to mediafire.com (free file hosting) and then I downloaded the file from browser app in my phone but it saved the file as txt file and I can't do any thing about it.

I tried to use android injector windows application but it always shows error message : device not found

so I need a way to install app on my phone without using market app.

any one could help me??

thanks in advance.

Before attempting a manual installation of apps using the .apk files, you must first allow your phone to install from “Unknown Sources” (i.e. non-Market apps).
To do this, navigate to Menu -> Settings -> Applications and check the box marked "Unknown Sources".
Step 1: Install File Manager
Android does not natively come with any method of browsing the data on your SD card, so you will need to install a ASTRO file manager from a market.

Step 2: Copy .apk file to SD card
Once you have ASTRO File Manager installed, connect your Android device to your PC using your USB cable. Mount the SD card and copy over the .apk file you would like to install.

Step 3: Install .apk
On your Android device, navigate to the .apk file using ASTRO File Manager and select it.
This will open a dialog box allowing you to install the app. Select "Open App Manager".
On the next two pages, select “Install” and "Install" again to install the .apk.
Your new app is now installed.
