I dont have the g1 yet, but i wanted to know if, after activating the g1 with a google (gmail) account, there is a way to change that google account linked to your g1 without doing a soft reset (back to the wizard)?
I guess you can go to gmail.com on your g1 and sign in with a new gmail account, but would that change the gmail account linked to your g1? Or maybe there is an option somewhere? Or a soft reset is required? Plz let me know.

I'm not sure what will happen, but with anycut you can create a shortcut to "Setup Wizard" and it gives u the same screens you had when u first turned on ur G1...not sure what'll happen after u set it up, but lemme know.

i need to know if there is a way to change the google account linked to the g1 without going trough the setup wizard because I think the setup wizard doesnt allow internet connection through wifi, only through the sim card network. Problem is that my sim card doesnt support internet connection, so I have no other choice than using wifi.

Guys, have you tried Settings -> SD Card & Phone Storage -> Factory Data reset?

oops, my bad. Shouldn't be replying on forums at 2 am. My bad, sorry.
That said, the moment you change the Gmail login credentials, you're going to lose your contacts and calendar data anyway. I think the only things that remain are bookmarks and apps (which you can download from Android Market anyway).

Hey guys,
I am getting my G1 replaced tomorrow for a new one cause of a few problems. I want to do a soft reset to remove my Gmail details from the phone...but will that delete all my contacts that are now stored on my GMail which are there because I entered them in my phone?
Thanks :)

This is your answer. I haven't followed it all the way through, but it will start the process all over again for you.

Yes, you will delete all the phone numbers (Only) that were entered or say imported via sim card if you reset to fatory settings.
Gmail will only sync the email contacts.
To verify, check your Gmail on the browser, any contacts that are not there will not be synced
