on a more serious note, how's the rigidity on the convertible? Was itching for a Z06 when I was looking around in July, but I couldn't bring myself to love the interior over the Audi's, however hard I tried. The Z06 went like stink though, and so effortlessly too... in a straight line AND in the corners.... *sighhhhh*

Yeah, I love Audis as well. It was between a S5 and the Vette and the Vette won. The convertibles are extremely rigid. Corvettes are designed from the ground up to be convertibles then they just tack the top on for the coupes. The reason they don't sell the Z06 in convertible format is because the chassis is made out of aluminum instead of steel like the vert/coupe. It actually needs the top on to stop any kind of metal fatigue from the aluminum twisting.

Good thing you skipped on the 07 S5s. The 4.2l V8 is pretty rubbish, and I'm glad they are going with the twin turbo'd V6 in the 08 models. Check out Stasis' new S5 kit -- pretty sweet, and with the upcoming FI'd V6, you'd see good gains from an ECU reflash.

Good call on the vette though. Would love to have go back to a convertible again in the next 12 months. Wrecked my S2000 in 06, and got the Evo, but I do so miss the experience of top-down driving!

There's nothing like it. :D

Especially since the 08+ Vettes have an option for the dual mode exhaust which basically turns it into a straight pipe above 3500 RPMs and it sounds pretty wicked. I have an aftermarket controller in there so I can wirelessly push a button and the flaps will open up to reveal the mean growl of the LS3 V8, or I can hit another to close them off and go into stealth mode!

sorry, but your ex-husband drives and M3, so he shouldn't be going around calling other cars trashy. M3s, IMHO, are nice cars, driven by wankers. :)

@greencow - good to find a fellow detailer on the forum. What products are you using? I'm running close to 4 layers of Klasse HGSG over a base of AIO, and have several coats of Pinnacle Souveran paste carnauba alternating over Optimum Car Wax (OCW). Washed and detailed twice and week, and those rims are a PITA to wash as I'm running Porterfield R4 race pads for daily driving

Yeah, I'd go with an Evo SST any day, but when I was shopping for my post-Evo car, the Evo X did come up on the list, and since I'd already proven that I set out to do in my VIII, I wanted something fun to drive, comfortable, and classy. That meant looking at the Evo X SST with Premium package and the STI, both of which were around USD300 per month cheaper than my 2006 RS4. It was a no-brainer from there.

I thought this was "Android addicted VQ35 lovers unite!" not show off who's car is faster and what not... I see more non VQ35 cars in here than VQ35s... Or even the VQ37s... combined...
That's because a lot of people have cars that are more fun than Nissans! :D

Hahah, I'm out there in the middle of winter with two buckets of hot water and my sponge, every week.

Just detailed the interior last week, but now we got snow/sleet going on. So the mats are taking a beating :( Nice rs4 btw.

Pwei, love those wheels.

Thanks greencow. What detailer do you use? My car is in some need for a good detailing... I'm tempted to just go out and spend 3 bills on something really good.

I do it maself. Shampoo the mats, steamed the carpet, treated the dash and surrounding plastics. Need to scotch guard the mats soon, to, the salty, slushy snow season has begun :(

This is TRUE... 7% drivetrain lose on an all-well drive car is pure genius, not to mention it would be a whole lot of fun to drive.

I'd like to think that those kinda drivers wouldn't associate themselves with a G1... riced out G1's, scary thought.
Well I guess by the impression of the "First" posters in the market you'd think we'd have a bunch of them.

The R35 is the one that's most known for the problem. Not to mention Nissan won't fix it under warranty if you've ever used launch control (which the ECU keeps a running tally of the number of times you've used it and even if you turn VDC off).

The GT-R was built with some cool gadgets in it, but Nissan doesn't want to warranty them because they'll break the car in no time. I could've afforded a GT-R, but I just didn't want to throw my money away if I ever decided to actually use the power they put in the car.

Take away the launch control, and I think my Vette keeps up with one, if not beats it.
