Total Newbie here - Where do I start?

Hello Forum people. I'm a web developer who has decided I need to learn about developing smart phone apps.
Can anyone point me to a good place to start learing from the begining? I'm talkin "Hello World" here.

Also, if this is the wrong forum for this type of question, please point me in the right direction.
