G1 won't notify me of new text?

I went under messaging and selected "vibrate when notified" and I have a ringtone selected but for some reason my phone is completely silent when I have a new text.

The little envelope at the top shows up and everything but it just doesn't make noise.

It's fine with phone calls and IMs. Texts are the only problem.

It's really starting to frustrate me. Does anyone know if I'm missing something? I don't see an option anywhere to adjust my text ringtone volume.

ODD mine just started doing the same exact thing. I even turned my ringer volume back up and still nothing. Damn I guess i spoke too soon about not having issues with the phone.

its probably a bug or something sometimes when i had the rc19 firmware my sd card would automatically unmount so when somebody called me i wouldnt get my ringtone dat i had on instead i would get a regular ringing ringtone which pissed me off but i just got my rc29 update so i want to see how dat goes

PS.doesn't the vibrate suck seriously it sounds like if its under my bed vibrating its not loud or hard enough

I am having similar issue. I rebooted the phone. I dont know yet if it helped.

The phone has major issues.............................like my older brother. And no matter how much u say its going to be fix it probaly won't sorry.

I don't want to jinx it but i rebooted my phone this morning and tried texting myself and it rang. so hopefully it will keep working. I just got my phone yesterday and that was my first time turning it off and back on so I'm hoping it was just a glitch that it wouldn't work before.
