Sent back my pos G1.......

So just want to see how many people hate their G1.... I have had problems with mine since I opened the box.... 2 new sim cards, updates and numerous calls to tech support and it was still not working correctly ( I got it on the 20th of oct. and have had to call tech support for it freezing up or shutting off and another hand full of other reasons and never once did they offer to give me another G1 ) I am waiting for the Behold because it's been out in Europe for over a year and have already proven it's worth..... Gonna have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd version of the G1....

I like mine too, but I've come to realize it really lacks alot. It's cool for showing off and using it's cool features, but really in the long run how often will you use Shopsavvy and the street view compass. I felt so comfortable with my BB that I might go back. I'm giving the G1 a shot.

I gave mine a 13 day chance as not to go over the 14 day return policy. Now i'm waiting for November 10th for the Behold...

This phone has all the functions that i want. It Surfs the internet awesome. I get all my emails. I take pictures, play music. and guess what else. I make clear Phone calls with no dropouts. the apps are icing on top.

Browsing the web is amazing... no crashes in two weeks of use. I also love Weather Channel (love the video feature), YouTube videos run VERY smoothly, some great software after only two weeks, with new apps appearing daily....

While the email isn't as full featured as my Blackberry Pearl, I can easily wait to view my email when I'm on my computer, and in the meantime, I still can view recently received email.

Really enjoying the G1! NO plan to return mine.....

(It's also been TOTALLY stable... surprised that the OP had issues with stability.)

I hate mine too! I have a blackberry and an iphone as well. I thought the iphone had a bad email client until I got the G1. The email client sucks for any sort of real business use. I cannot copy and paste quoted text in an email. WTF? I am a Product Manager and that is a pretty huge oversight for a product team. Not to mention I can only open docs in gmail. Hmm. I am giving it a little more time to see what is developed. My guess is that it gets traded back in for a blackberry.

Returned mine: I like Android, just not the G1.

1. Touch screen not great quality like iPhones (responsiveness)
2. Wifi range is horrible

You should Call G1 support and tell them your phone is defective you need it exchanged. Period.

They should have 1 in the mail, when you recieve it send back the "defective one".

Mine does the same thing (Freezing and shutting down). I was asked to do a master reset (back to factory settings) and sent some instructions via email to follow up incase the phone freezes while I'm doing that... Still no good, it only reduced the frequency of the freezing. I plan to get mine exchanged this weekend. I just havent had time to call. Here's the number: 877 816 8601 (Good Luck!)

I know your pain... I had to send my G1 back on monday. When I plugged it in to charge it the screen turned white and then blacked out and it never returned to normal so now they have to send me a new one because i was still in my 14 day window.....which i dont mind because hopefully this one will have some of the bugs worked out.

Poor babies, mines is flawless. Battery life is getting better everyday, wifi works great, fast web, got my update. Life is good and don't even live in a 3G area. Some of us are lucky some of us are blessed and some of us just complain. Guess I'm lucky to be blessed. :cool:

DITTO! I am waiting patiently for the HTC touch HD pro. Until then I had to go back to my 2nd gen unlocked/jailbroken 16g iPhone. Just so much smoother then the G-1.

I definitely love my g1. Has more features than any other phone out there. And android is very smooth and does NOT crash

The virtual keyboard is coming early next year. However, why would you want one so badly when the keyboard has many more advantages?

I am waiting for mine to arrive. Anything is better than my Samsung U900 (Soul) :o.

I sent mine back too, to get a brown G1 replaced with a black one! My brown G1 was great except for the terrible keyboard. In 14 days of use I had one application crash and one time the phone reset itself. I have been amazed how stable the Android platform has been for an initial release and a new phone model.

People are comparing this phone to a 2ND GENERATION Apple iPhone. This phone smokes the 1st generation iPhone which it should be compared against. Now that I have my black G1 that has a great keyboard which works great in all lighting conditions, I am very satisfied with my T-Mobile G1. I did spend many hours at the Apple store playing with the new iPhone before I got my G1. I am glad I waited for the G1 and didn't get sucked into the iPhone hype whirlpool.

Uhh, the 2nd gen iPhone, aka the iPhone 3G, is the one that's currently on the market. Furthermore, the G1's feature set is most comparable to the iPhone 3G's, not the original iPhone.
