So i actually always rave about Tmo and thier awesomeness.... But they are really pissing me off about this G1 business.
A) This is my last day on my 14 day grace that i can exchange it. They WILL NOT. let me exchange it for a brown one. saying "The brown Devices are temporarily disabled for upgrade customers"
B) My phone is ****ed up. And their answer is a new SIM Card. I am no phone expert but my SIM has nothing to do with the phone not recognizing my SD card and the fact it doesnt vibrate anymore.
Why are they giving me ****? They ALWAYS hook it up. IS there some sort of weird pressure going to the employees to not make exchanges for the phone?

so let them swap the SIM, show that it doesnt fix the problem, let them take it from there.
somehow i doubt that posting on an internet forum is going to fix your phone, either.

I would of asked to speak to the reps supervisor. It seems anytime you ask for a supervisor, more then likely you will get what you want, or another solution that is good enough for both you and TMo

i got a better idea...contact your state attorney general's office, the BBB and also the FCC...i bet money you'll get your desired response....that's what i do whenever they try to give me sh!t

Just tell them the phone is screwed.. drop it in the mail.. and go buy the one you want from a store...
It does not have to be broken or defective for you to return it in the first 14 days.. Thats why they call it the buyers remorse period.
Just be sure that the package is postmarked with todays date, if this is the last day of the grace period..

Call back again and speak with a different rep. I'm sure you will get a different answer. Every time I speak with a T-Mo rep I get different info.

I don't desire anything more than what I signed up for. I don't want to use scare tactics to be overcompensated. I personally feel there is something wrong with that. All I would want is a replacement phone or a refund. I'm sure that can be accomplished without contacting all of those buyer protection agencies. If not, have at it.

your post is irrelevant. the op said her phone was broke and also she wanted a different color...things she is entitled to; i simply stated what i had to do when i needed a new handset and they wouldn't budge. i didn't ask for all the other things, nor was i hoping for extra....i guess a guilty conscious got to them(probably not)...you can waste your time going back and forth with zero results, but me, i have better things to do than sit on the phone for an hour or more.

Well this post looks to me like it says somethin about lookin to get something above and beyond what you are entitled to. But you're right, it is not helpfull to this thread. I did say to go ahead and call every agency you can think of if your other avenues don't pan out. I doubt thats a speedy process either though.
Anyway, better get that thing sent in... good luck with gettin the new phone.

that was a statement of what i received....the desired was an adverb for the handset that i wanted, not the minutes and zero balance. as for the timing of things...i took 3 business days with the BBB's help. prior to that i spent 5 total hours(yes..5 fnckin hours) and 3 emails trying to rectify my problem.

That stinks! I actually got a replacement coming in after nov 10th. Although its not brown, i still have one coming to me. On another note, T-Mobile wanted me to reboot my phone to fix the HARDWARE issues i was having, such as flimsy screen and creaking sounds...somehow i think that a phone reboot isnt going to fix that. Maybe i should reboot my PC to fix the 710 freeway....eh?

seriously i dont get it. she said i had 14 days to get it back to the return warehouse by the 14th day. so essentially i would have had to send it back pretty much when i got it. thats not giving me 14 days to try it out.
and here you guys are keeping yours until you get the replacement. ****ing garbage.

Well, when you bought the phone you agreed to that particular color. Now, if the phone isn't working properly then they should give you a replacement phone. I started a thread about today being the first day that their "defective exchange" for the G1 is taking place. Obviously, if the problem doesn't involve the sim then they should give you a replacement without no issues.

You can send it back on the 14th day so essentially you do have 14 days to use the phone.

that's the thing both her and her supervisor told me the warehouse has to receive it by the 14th day. i live in Seattle. it would have taken 7-10 days to get to the warehouse. so that leaves me with 4-7 days to try it out. Thats ridiculous.
and furthermore my phone is defective i have a list of **** wrong with it. And they give me the run around about that too. now that i have a new sim and it still does the same stuff. they are telling me to wait till the next update.
Its like my account is notated with "give this guy as hard of a time as possible"

i would call back or just send it back and reoder one I have sent my back i will have a new one coming soon but the brown are back order cause i wanted the brown one i didnt want to wait thay long. talk with someone else

They must of misinformed you. You can definitely send it back on the 14th day just as long as you provide tracking info. On tops if its defective then I don't see the problem why they can't take it back and give you a replacement device. I mean you do have warranty with htc and I'm pretty sure you have insurance right ?

yes tmobile will allow you to keep ur phone untill u get the replacement i have had that done be for

I am so pissed at TMobile right now..I pre-ordered 2 phones on Oct.3rd just after the time deadline to get it on the 23rd and I still have no phones or tracking info..I call up tmobile and all they can tell me is "the bronze is on backorder,maybe you'll get it sometime this month"...They are getting pathetic with the handling of the G1 phones.

the 14 days is for a full refund of the phone. nothing to do with defective hardware, that falls under the phones warenty.
if your phone is defective or not working, you can send it back for up to a year after you received it. if you want to ugly glossy impossible to see the keys brown color, you just have to be nice to the CS rep when replacing your defective hardware.
