I was just wondering how many ppl will leave tmobile when a better, (hardware wise) android phone is released on another carrier?
Or will you guys stick it out untill tmobile drops another android based phone. Yea you could just unlock the phone but you dont get the tech support if something goes wrong. my fear is tmobile will slack for a while. that is their tendency they dont really have the best phones, and if they do come out with a cool phone they never really follow up on it.

Eh, I've been with T-Mobile for years and I'm loving my G1.

I think I'm gonna stick with this for quite some time. Afterall I was rocking the sidekick for as long as I've been with T-Mobile.

Tmobile's monthly plans are not so great that I wouldn't consider switching for better hardware.

I've been with the same provider for 12 years. I won't be switching.

Nope!! As far as I'm concerned, T-Mobile is the best carrier in my area..

I would think about getting an unlocked one..

And T-Mobile DOES have a whole tech support section devoted to Unsupported phones... So no worries there..

I've been with The Magenta way too long and I've never had billing issues like some carriers trying to see if you pay attention to your bill each month and cut your phone off if it's 1 day late! T-Mobile is great and the G2 will be all I could ever need!! :D

TMO would really have to **** something up for me to leave them.

i mean really really really mess something up. Cause there is no way i am going to ATT and they are the only other GSM provider around.

Like most people i have had my frustrations about the phone selections for awhile. But, now i got a phone i want.

Really? I've found that their MyFaves plan drastically cuts down my bill, especially when using GrandCentral to route calls to my cell. Comparable plans from AT&T are +$10/mo and I don't get the benefits of MyFaves. Sprint is not an option because, well, they're Sprint. Verizon is +$20/mo and again I wouldn't get the MyFaves benefits, plus I have issues with Verizon's totalitarian lock-down of their phones.

I might consider it after my two year contract is up or something, and probably leave t-mo if theres a better (looking) handset in the long run...

7 years here.

I think its these grandfathered plans that will keep most of us long-timers on T-mobile.
They're just too good to get away from

I have been a loyal customer for tmobile for some time now. all my freinds have tmobile and i like it because i get the text messages really really quick. Usually if i text another carrier it lags more.

If another phone comes out that i just gotta have, chances are i will buy it unlocked and use it with my tmobile service :)

I'm not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Been with T-Mobile about 11 years, since they were Aerial. Not only do they have the best coverage in my area, better even than Verizon, but the best customer service and the best price. I get 1500 min + data for $65/mo (+ taxes, etc.). AT&T and Verizon can't touch that. And Verizon will not grandfather in your rates. Dunno about AT&T.

Sprint's just not a consideration - even though I'm in Sprint's hometown. They just suck so bad...

Totally agree with your Verizon assessment.

I miss that too. The thing I miss the most, I think, is back when the first minute of incoming calls didn't count towards your minutes. That way, wrong numbers, etc. wouldn't count. That was back before anyone offered free nights/weekends though... So I can't really complain.

By the way, what is your company history? Like... before it was t-mobile? I'm not sure about everyone else, but mine went:
PowerTel
VoiceStream
Tmobile

And either just before, or just after PowerTel (I cant remember which now) I think there was something else.

I only ask because I was wondering if the company just went through re-branding, or if the company I was with was just bought out by the new one...

I'll just probably get the unlocked version of whatever phone that it is That's of course if it's worth it.

unless that new phone can make me breakfast and fill in for me at work, the answer is no. Hardware wise, this phone gives me everything i need/want.

ditto
Family plan for 700 min @ 59.99, unlimited nights/weekend, unlimited mobile-to-mobile. 60-80% of my calls are w/in the tmo network so i spent about ~500 regular mins and about 1k+ min for free.

I went from:
Pacbell
Cingular (got tired of their service)
Tmo

When did VoiceStream become Tmo? That's when they came to SF and piggy backed on Cingular's network and I finally had a second GSM network to switch to.

i've been happy with tmobile every since i first got them back in 2002, i've had no problems with their customer service, then again i may have been lucky. but i've shown the service rep a good amount of respect and it seems they tend to do the same to me. otherwise if there is another android phone in the future which i'm sure there will be, i could always unlock the sucker and theres always tmobile's configuration settings webpage =)

I've had Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile now and all around T-Mobile has been the best service I have experienced. Verizon had great coverage, but was extremely expensive and customer service sucked. AT&T was good coverage, customer service was a bit better, but service was still way too expensive. T-Mobile has had the best customer service, very good reception, and the cheapest of all services I've had thus far. Customer service from t-mobile will be the main reason I stay with them for years to come.

AT&T/Cingular/whatever they're calling themselves this week has horrible, horrible billing. My account had a balance of "-$97.xx" when I closed it, which of course means that AT&T owed me $97 and change. Lots of my conversations with AT&T consisted of of them saying "a negative amount on your bill means you need to send AT&T the money or we'll shut off your phone!" Even the first-tier supervisors insisted that a negative amount on the bill meant I had to pay that amount. I was sorely tempted to write a check for -$97.xx but figured they'd cash it and my bank would be just as stupid.

I finally got my $97, but it took a very long conversation with a supervisor about how it'd be impossible to pay a negative amount. He actually went through the last 12 months of billing with me on the line, adding and subtracting until it dawned on him... only to have him suggest that the amounts were reversed, and each bill sent out was actually a payment I made.

Never, ever again will I give AT&T money.

lol that's the weirdest thing I have heard in a while.

My experience with AT&T has been great. My only qualm is that their CSR doesn't know anything about phones beyond what's in front of them on their computer...but I understand how it is.
