View Full Version : Pop3 E-mail notification not showing in status bar
Anyone else having trouble with e-mails not showing in the status bar?? It has an option for it in the settings, but I get tons of e-mail, but I have to go to the e-mail app to see if I have new mail....
I have my own e-mail server, and do not use g-mail. Pop3 and smtp are set-up correctly. I send and receive fine, it checks every 5 mins, just wish it would tell me I have new mail like on the sidekick.

my pop email is my only real complanit with the G1, it only checks when i check the email and never shows notifications on the status bar. IMAP works a little better but only shos notifications for 1 in 20 emails. i set up gmail to receive POP work mails but gmail only checks the email server every 50 minutes or less.
i really don't want to forward emails from outlook to gmail. someone needs to develop a better email client.

Yes! I am having the exact same problem. My phone receives the e-mail, but it doesn't notify me. I am desperate for a fix -- my business relies on me receiving customer orders in a timely manner!
Please, some enterprising Android developer, help us out!
(And YES, I do have the notification box checked in the application. I've tried this with the standard e-mail app as well as K-9.)

I also do not receive notifications from my POP 3 account, only for gmail. I ended up setting up my gmail account to also receive mail from my POP 3 account, so now I get notifications when I get mail from gmail and POP 3. On the down side, I get twice as much mail to sort
I got the update this morning, still does the same thing... tried toggling the option off, rebooting, turning back on, still no go.
Does anyone have their pop3 e-mail working with the notification feature? If not, it's a bug. bleh. I don't want to set-up gmail, just want my domain e-mail.

I asked this question in one of the Android forums, and I was told mail notifications only appear for Gmail, not the standard Email application. Why, I don't understand. I have access to the K9 Email source code (from the Google code site), so I'll try to look through it for an answer.

I had the same problem with my work email. IMAP would not work on the email app provided on android, but when I used K-9 the IMAP worked. Now I get notifications. I am no email expert but you might want to try this.
K-9 gives me no notifications just like the default mail client.
