G1 Dead After 12 Days

So here I am at work. Phone is at about 75% charge after a full charge all night at home. All is well. Suddenly I stop receiving signal in a location that I always have a strong 5 bars. After a few minutes waiting for it to return I decided to restart the phone. This worked with my old phone. I turn off the phone and then restart it. I get the pulse vibration and the G1 logo.

After that… blackness.

That was three hours ago. I have plugged it in. Pulled out the battery and sim card. Put them back in. Everything. I can’t even get the G1 logo to come back.

Off to the T-Mobile store I go.

Dead after 12 days. Suckage.

Ay - You do have 14 day's to use the phone. Just return it to the t-mobile store and get a replacement. :)

Might be just your phone, I've had my phone since October 20th and have yet to have any problems with it. Your's must just be a defect. :p

T-Mobile actually tried to get me to mail it back to them at my expense. Yea, that didn't go over well. Needless to say, I have a new phone in the mail with a pre-paid box.

this kinda managment is unacceptable... being i have a buisness degree and working toward engineering.. the acceptance of failures is just weak minded.

Yours must have come from the same batch as mine (see my "My G1 is Bricked" thread). Same thing happened to me, except it was while I was trying to hook up the phone via bluetooth to my car's bluetooth. Just froze. CS had me do master reset etc etc....nothing.....blackness.

Oh and I DID HAVE to pay for shipping there. But they are supposed to express mail me a new one at their expense. That was days ago....who knows when I'll get one.

So. Just got my new one in the mail. They sent me the phone - backplate - battery. All works BUT... MY F**KING KEYBORD KEYS ARE UNEVEN!

WTF!?

Is there a fix to this? Or am I going to have to open the phone and fix this ****?

Lol, my keyboard keys were uneven to begin with.

Yep, keyboard is a known problem. My 1st G1 keyboard was great and my 2nd one was uneven...some were raised and some were nearly flush. The G1 is just a poor design imho...I wish they would have thought it out a bit more like they did with touch diamond on the hardware side of things that is.

I have three options.

Call up T-Mobile and say that two of my keys on my keyboard don't work.

Open the phone and try to fix it. It may just be the keypad sitting odd.

Try to get past my ocd and ignore it. XD

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't try opening it as that would likely void the warranty...either ignore it or return it...choice is yours my friend =)

I called up T-Mobile and bitched them out. I am going to get a new one sealed in the box via UPS. XD
