I dropped my G1 twice from about a bit below my waist.. man no scratches, no crack on the screen (one of the times it fell face first down).... let's see the iPhone do that... I only had the default screen protector that came with phone. The craftsmanship is impressive on this phone. I love it!!

Btw, i just got my OTA RC29 update in Seattle, WA 3:00pm.

I wouldn't suggest you turn your G1 into a crash dummy, Just to see how much pain it can with hold. :p

Glad to know your G1 survived the falls! I haven't dropped mine yet (knock on wood), but I remember the first time I dropped my first iPod.

I had the iPod in my front shirt pocket walking back from class to my apartment. For some reason, I got the wild hair to jump and touch the balcony on the floor above... Don't ask why, as I have no clue... I suppose it had something to do with rocking out to the tunes...

Well, the iPod jumped outta my pocket, and fell all the way down to cement. So, just standing, my pocket is probably 5 feet off the ground, jumping, probably 6, and it launched out of my pocket, so probably 6.5/7 feet down... straight to the cement.

I was sick. The smack it made... made me cringe. Luckily, the screen wasn't broken. It had dented a corner of the metal backing, deeply scratched another, and scratched some of the front plastic piece.

And to make it worse, for the first time, I attempted to take the iPod apart, and smooth out the dinged corner. In doing so, I broke the cable that connected the mobo to the headphone jack. Luckily though, I bought a replacement ribon cable for like... $10 and fixed it myself. It was fun.

Wow... I rambled there... sorry about that.

Welcome to the community!

Or he can be the first person to conduct stress tests on the G1, either way ;)

Unlike him, I suggest you turning your G1 into a crash dummy, just to see how much pan it can with hold and report back to us with your studies.

Happy to report I have not dropped mine either. But according to one member, we should all be weary of the touchscreen cracking under normal usage ;)

kinda makes me find it hard to believe that "someone" posted a thread on here bout how their phones screen cracked under "normal finger usage", when you've dropped your phone several times and it hasn't broke

funny stuff

I dropped my G1 and there is one little scratch but its okay.

My friend dropped her iPhone two weeks later and the screen shattered into tiny pieces.

Poor girl has to shell out $400 for a new one now

Yeah, nice to see a POSITIVE thread.

Suggestions to ADMINS: group complaint threads into their own folder or simply delete pointless "the G1 Sucks" threads. It's really making this place a crap fest with very little meaningfull Android/discussion. Either that or expand the new thread / post section to show more posts (if that's possible). Whatever, you get the idea...

Oh yea, I'd have to say it rocks too. and I'm still optimistic that 6 months from now, when the market is outta beta version, and more ota come out, that this phone will be murdering the iphone. And yes I dropped mine too, No malfuntions!! if fell from my waist, it does have a little ding on the bottom left corner, but eh it my own fault, but still works flawlessly.

BTW Where is a pic of an Apple with a worm eating through it!! That needs to be our mascot!!! :D
