So if 3 went to Admins, 2 to the two contests in givaways, and there was 7 to start with. That leaves two......another contest?????

That's BS!
I tried to adopt a little bugdroid, but like getting welfare, I was shot down! :(

The remaining bugdroids are staying with us - don't expect anymore giveaways anytime soon. Poor turn out from the last few giveaways tells us that AC members don't give a rats a$$ about giveaways --- so why should we continue run them?

Hey.. I ALWAYS want free stuffs!!!!!! lol...

Ya seriously.

Why let a few bad eggs spoil the bunch?!
Keep up with the giveaways an all, and whoever participates, participates.

How did you guys advertise the giveaways?? This is my firstime hearing about giveaways. So you had 1 bad turn out for a give away. Come on Vince!!! Everyone has been to hype and excited about their G1s to get involved with a contest. Give us another chance man!!! That could keep some members here once all the G1 hype dies down a little.

If at 1st you don't succeed try, try again!!!

BTW, who was in charge of advertising or getting the word out about the contest?? Perhaps you need some help in that department?? I like this board and I don't know about anyone else, but anything I can do to help it grow and remain popular I wouldn't mind pitching in and helping out where and when I could.

When I was in the Navy we had a saying when you made rank, "always remember who got you there". I am by no means being an a$$ but WE are the community, good bad or otherwise we make up the team. I appreciate the giveaways, and just having a place to hang out but to hear you or any of out leaders here say we don't give a rats a$$ kinda gets my goat if you know what I mean. I was upset with the turnout myself, but I'm not sure it was because no one cared. I'll get off my soapbox now.

I agree with birdtales that the low turnout was probably not because no one cared. AC forums are DENSE and there is a lot to sift through. I stumbled upon the site looking for answers to a couple of questions, not intending initially to start getting so involved. It takes a little time for people to get comfortable joining a community and participating.

From my experience, people are generally NOT apathetic about the prospect of free stuff! I think maybe just a bit more advertising will get more members involved.

LOL! ya kinda hard to miss it.

then again... I know I find myself explaining to people how to guide themselves through my website forum.

but yes Vincent..,,giveaways are always apprciated. And grated (knowing the AC rules about only AC giveaways are accepted) anyone who mentioned or emailed me regarding questions about Vegas I always gave/offered them tickets to a show I work for.

Aside from it all... i dont like being a hog. LOL I only enter in the giveaways I know I will use.
the protective skins,,, I already had 1.
the bugdroids..cute, but my dogs would tear it up in 3min. so better it went to someone who could care for it.
the unlock one... dont really need/care if my g1 was unlocked.

thats why the only one I joined was the carrying case.

Yes, Vincent - I've already realized, found, and participated. However, my point is just that most people coming to the site are not searching for contests and freebies and fun stuff to do, but for a specific informational reason. The "sub-forum" Contests/Giveaways is at the bottom of all other forums and at least for me requires a bit of scrolling to discover that it exists.

Then again most people (including myself sometimes) tend to come to the forums and just click on NEW POSTS up top. If no conversations have been in the contest thread no one sees them.
I am not making excuses.. just saying.
I love the contests and hoped to win something myself.

Well... I've participated on some giveaways but I must admit that I always click "new posts" and I never saw the "giveaway" sub-forum.
But please continue with the giveaways, even if it's just a sticker... :)

You realize that we have an entire section dedicated to posting Contests and Giveaways (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40) right?!

Ya know.. Most people seem to only check out the threads that are currently being discussed.. I know I have missed a couple contest simply because I did not think to check the lil contest tab..
The only contest that I purposely decided not to enter was the one for the unlocking codes, simply because I would not use them so someone else would appreciate them more...

Maybe someone should bump up the contest and giveaway threads up a lil more often..

For me, and just me....Its hard to get excited with a contest. For those of us that never win....and know that there are over 6000 people on this site...to win like 2 prizes....what are the odds??

I have tried to participate in all the giveaways I heard about... as long as it didn't include some kind of artwork!! LOL, I'm art handicapped, I take a short bus to the museum. But some of the contest I just never heard about!

I didn't attempt to win this b/c I figured I would let someone who really wanted it to have a chance at it -- I'd like to have it sitting on my desk...but its not something that I'd want to take from someone else.

call me selfless for once. :P

I know I am like that. I remember the day the G1 was given away. You know when Stormy won it. I was thinking I know I will never win. But I work up early anyway that day.

I won a bugdroid... I didn't do anything super special for it... just tried being creative... It's not hard to be imaginitive... you just have to try... depending on the situation... everyone has a n equal opportunity to win... so your odds are as good as anyone elses... If you never try then your odds go from 50% to zero... you should just try whether or not your history says you will win... Just like the lotto it only takes... one time to make you into a millionare... so just like these contest it only takes one win to make you a winner...

I really do want more of these contests and I will continually take part in them... why? because they are fun.... thats all that matters... even if its a small group now... it will get bigger and people will catch on... if we change the prizes to something that majority of people would want I think we would get a bigger response...

For example... there is a bigger battery available from HTC if memory serves me right...

http://uploads.screenshot-program.com/upl0234366618.jpg (http://uploads.screenshot-program.com)

if AC had a contest to give away that battery... it would have a better turn out... simply because there is more of a need for that type of item... it had 3,856 views as of today around 8 am pst in the "Replace our batter petition" thread...
SO you know there is demand... It would be a better and more definitive measurement on the communities participation in the Forum contests...

I don't believe that we should compare the number of members of the actual forum to those who participated... why? A forum can have 10 million members who signed up... but have only 2000 Active people ever come back and actually use the forum on a regular basis.. (My example was extreme but I think you get my point)

There are so many sections and sub-devisions which really keeps things organized but in turn not everyone will go to every sub-division on a daily basis... Sort of like if I put in a Mc Donalds on the 10th floor of 20 story building... down the corridor... through the main office and out through the patio... Sound easy to get to? Would everyone on the main street go out of their way to get a "Big Mac"?

If you really want people to participate... Just put it at the top... For people to blatantly see... Having free stuff will seperate you from other Android Clone Forums... It's a competitive edge... Don't give it up... People love free stuff... in turn people will love your forum as well... just my 2 cents... Thanks..

I was already to participate in some contests and giveaways. I just joined the site this month but Im hear and Im hear a lot so I want to get involved. Start a poll Vince and see how many people want to participate. You should run one for all the new members of the site.

Fantastic idea. Yes, Vince, poll us. That would give you a better idea. But as was mentioned before, it too could get lost in the shuffle. Maybe try one giveaway and keep bumping it to encourage visibility. If you STILL get a lousy turnout, then maybe you have a point. I, for one, would love to keep the love coming.

By the way, who won the screen protector giveaway? If nobody, can I get in the front of the line? :)

just a lil advice, i would have participated in these giveaways but i think i speak for alot of people when i say i usually dont scroll down to the bottom of forums because thats where alot of em have test forums and trash forums, sooo

advice: move the thread to the top that should get everyones look and alot of people would know all about, now that ive seen this i will be participating in some giveaways

Giva aways are great but I didn't know u were giving anything away and I have been looking on this site since sept!! I just set up an account, a few days ago but I've been looking at the forums and all the complaints but no give aways! So bring em on...and make them more visable to people just signing up to ac.
