Activate g1 outside the u.s

i just got my phone and already have my sim unlock code but im unable to get past this gmail sign-in page on the first run. The horrible thing is we don't have 3g network here yet. so is there anyway i could activate it with a wifi connection or something ? i'm also unfamiliar with this EDGE :(

boot into safe mode (hold menu while powering the phone on) then when you get to the activation screen press menu and select apn settings then add a new apn

call ur network and they must have all the info for setting up the APN

i did, actually i went to their office and had them put the APN info and i get that "Edge" icon in the top bar while communicating with google server's but it still fails :mad: this is definitely stupid and i don't know what should i do next. By the way, can i choose certain APN or the phone just figures out by itself what to choose ?

it's finally working :D don't ask me how but it works, however if anyone living in Jordan (in the middle east) subscribed with Zain Operator, send me a PM and ill gladly share the PNA with you
