The contacts are connected to your gmail account. Just sign into the new phone with your current account.

You dont have to worry about transfering contacts or you calendar or tasks or any of that since they are all linked to your gmail account.

To answer number 1 for you. You will have to either put you foot down so the will send you one without you sending yours back or you will have to send yours back before the will send you one.I had to threatin cancel my contract before they told me to keep my old one until i got my new one and then send the old one back

i hade to get mine replaced, they had no problem completing an order for me before i ever send the original back- you just got to make sure you get it back right away. If your outsie of your remorse period, agian, they have sent me new phones without returning mine- like above- just dont take no for an answer.

BUT- just to let you know, it could be a long wait before you get your replacement. I've been waiting on mine since the 24th, and it STILL says back order with no promise of when it will go out. You could have to wait quite a while.

Just to give you guys some more insight, I love my G1 have a few little complaints but otherwise very happy with it. I however am taking advantage of the buyers remorse period and returning my first black G1 for a new one because I have noticed a few of the buttons on my qwerty keypad a recessed beyond the flush mount of the actual plastic of the board, no biggie just want one that doesnt have that flaw, and from what I have seen on the forums more people are experienceing that also. Anyways called 611 and got a rep named Dee dee, very nice young lady that helped me right off get in my new order for my replacement black G1, got my order number and then today receivd a texet from tmobile saying my order was placed. She advised me I could hold onto mine untill the new one arrives, which should only be a few days. I will ship mine back the day i get the new one and verify that it also does not have the keyboard defect. She credidted my account the $10 shipping or restocking fee whichever one it is I will have to look at my bill when i get it. Otherwise very happy with the experience I will update this post as appropriate:D

1. Typically, T-Mobile will send out the new phone minus the battery. You then send your defective phone back in the same box and replace the mailing address sticker that comes with it.

2. Your contacts should automatically show up on your new G1 since it's stored on GMail.

3. If you are unlucky enough to receive another defect, then call and get another one, or ask if you can return it to a local store, so you can check the phone.

(Remember customer service typically just read scripts, so don't blame them for not being as knowledgable as a sales rep or store manager)
