I just wondering if anyone have any problems with the data connection in California?
It started 11-1 at night to 11-2 in the evening.
I called customer service and it seems to help little bit but I have to reboot the phone every once in a while.
Anyone experience this problem?

I just got the upgrade and I haven't been able to use 3g data at my home in orange county all night on 11-2. I haven't really had time to trouble shoot it yet.
How did calling customer service help?

I just flew into vegas a few hours ago, and I'm having major issues here for some reason. I can only surf the web on 3G, and at some points it locks up, and the screen goes white. Ill do a quick reboot to make it work, but when I go to the home screen, and come back it'll give me the same issues all over again.

G1 just doesn't seem to function properly in the Los Angeles area. Perhaps it's just the phone that I received but I'm having a lot of connectivity problems where I'm at.

I've been having intermitten issues with internet connections regarding maps, market, and the browser all weekend long. CS usually has had me soft reset the phone a couple of times and even tried a hard reset. Issue has been happening throughout the weekend being with rc19 and rc29 update (yesterday.)

I am having similar symptoms from approximately the same time frame.
I live in the Central Valley near Merced. I have called customer service twice now and they refuse to aknowledge there is a network problem.
I guess we had better just keep flooding them with calls until they see there is a problem.

Have had the problems since Saturday here in SoCal (San Diego). Only getting white screen when using the browser, and the market place isn't coming up either.

I installed the SIM CARD that came with my new G1 I got yesterday and it fixed all the data connectivity problems. Apparently the older SIM cards weren't designed with 3G in mind.
The new SIM do.

I've had this connectivity issue also. I am in Southern California and I called them this morning and the rep suggested I get a new SIM card and install it.
But the question I have is that it is working fine in the first week when we all had the free internet access with no issues! And then they added the data plan when I called them and a couple days later I started seeing this issue.
I will try to get a new SIM card today and see if that helps. I hope it does because the blank white page on the browser is annoying...I hate having to restart the phone everytime it happens or switching to airplane mode and then back.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is randomly unable to access Internet functions. Sometimes Youtube works great, other times I can't get Weather Updates,... then suddenly I can. (Resident in Silicon Valley)
I thought maybe we were having really bad Space Weather, since Sun Spots can severely interfere with Satellite Transmission and Cell Phone operations, but it's been relatively calm recently.
I got the Update this morning and my access to the Internet was great for the first 2 hours, then back to poor/ spotty access :(

Mine was working fine in Seattle for the past two weeks, but now I'm in LA for this week and I'm experiencing the problems discussed in this thread. The data connections are not working very well here. Sometimes they go out for as long as a half hour.

I'm in Orange County (South Cali) today and it is working for me. I have not had any issues at all today or last night.
I did put the new SIM card yesterday and then 5 minutes later had the issue. Then I restarted the phone and since yesterday afternoon I have not had the issue come up.
I also tried un-installing some apps in case that might have caused something but it still happened. So not sure what happened but I am hoping that it has been fixed...

Ive had this issue since yesterday as well. Ive reset my phone and master reset (wiped everything) and still same problems persist. I dont know what to do anymore. I feel that after i manually updated to RC29, its been giving me issues....but im not too sure.

Actually, I don't ever recall seeing a SIM card in the box. I could not find it. So I used my SIM card from my other phone (T-Mobile Dash).
The internet was working perfectly for the first week until the free trial was over. Then I had them add the 24.99 plan on Wednesday and then on Thursday I started experiencing the outages that would come and go.
So far....I haven't had any outages for the internet.

That's good to know because after I installed the SIM card and turned it on, i had the same internet issue. Then i decided to remove some of the apps and try that before restoring the phone to the default state.
I removed half of the programs and it has worked since.
So I wonder if it could have been with one of the apps in market? Not sure.
But maybe other people that are having this issue can try and remove some or all of their apps. Since the issue started last Thursday, I only removed some of the newer apps that i downloaded recently.

Yea if you upgraded your phone it didn't come with a new sim card, yea I think it might be the apps that are messing up the phone. Because I havnt had any problems for awhile

Here in Palo Alto region problems too. 3G does not work. E doesn't seem to work either. The icon shows up but no data flows...

probably just network problems... my internet connection has pretty much worked flawlessly from downtown la, to tujunga canyon, anaheim, downey, santa ana, lax, sna... only problems i really started having were in the rollings hills area, and i use data extensively on my g1

Change that. E does work in Palo Alto. 3g does not. I switched the wireless settings to 'use 2G only' and now I get data.
The SIM card in my G1 is years old and works fine.

Ugh... I have been having all kinds of data problems for the last 2 or 3 days... I need this thing to work when I need it. I'm gonna try a new sim card. But if that doesn't work than I think i may need to throw in the towell and wait for a more polished product or a better network (whichever the issue may be). I paid 340 for the phone since i was not qualified for a full upgrade. If this continues to be an issue than this is not worth it to me.

I'm in Los Angeles / El Serrano and have been having 3G data and gps connectivity problems for about a week now. When I switch to wifi or reboot, no problems... usually.
This is a tough call. It's obvious that this is a network issue. Is it overloaded? Can it be solved with software fixes on their end and/or with OTA phone update?
On the other hand if the problem is that there are not enough T-Mobile antennas in the wild to handle the load... game over, it's going to take well into next year or longer to bring a significant enough number of antenna sites on line to make much of a difference.
I asked the T-Mobile store people about it and they knew nothing of it.
Tomorrow is the last day for me to return the phone under buyers remorse. Only thing is... I really like it, but if it can't connect to data reliably, that's problem. I wish T-Mobile would at least issue some info either through the local stores, on-line, or wherever.
What's the deelio, this is not a blip...

I am having the same trouble in Los Angeles. Edge network is working fine, but I cannot connect with 3G. 3G never seems to work consistently for any amount of time.
