What are you talking about? There is no selectable option when creating a new shortcut called "Update."

Nope doesn't work for me either. UGH.
Keep trying, turn your phones off and then back on after a couple of mins.
Took me at least 3 days at least twice a day, just trying if it would download.

Took 3 days to get the update? I think it was coincedence. You would of gotten the update anyway. I have tried. A lot of keywords and still I'm on RC19...I was even a preorder that got my phone on the 20th.

the way they are talking about is you use anycut to make a shortcut to Device info then scroll to the bottom and click update.

I love how the person who actually created the thread didnt explain a thing, but Cow_King explained exactly how to create this shortcut...lol

Yeah, the OP was worthless. It's like having a post saying, "Oh my God! It worked!!" without explaining what "it" is and how it "worked."

Just did that, clicked Update, but none to be found (CHECKIN_SUCCESS) even though people are now talking about RC30.

This method doesn't really work. The phone simply asks the carrier if there is an update earmarked for it. If there isn't, then it will tell you checkin success. On the other hand, if there is an update cued up, it's only a matter of hours before it's pushed to the phone anyway. So, you won't be able to gain much from using it. That's also why some guy tried for 3 days straight before getting it.

People are complaining about not having RC30 and I didnt even get RC29 yet...:P
QUESTION:
Who is actually pushing the updates? Google, Tmobile, or HTC ?

That's what I'm wondering. I'm using an unlocked G1 over here in Dubai, and had to manually update it using update.zip and am hoping for the new one to be posted soon. It's not a small file, and is probably best downloaded over WiFi. I'd hate to think of what the network load would be like if there was a high contention ratio for a 40+ MB file.

i believe its coincidence, the time he's checking on the Anycut is actually the time google sent him the update.

Thanks Cow_King. The dead download links no detail on the anycut was frustrating. In addition to the security issue I have had poor battery life. I clicked update it registered and downloaded rc30. It installed in 2 reboots from rc19. I hope this improves the battery life as much as I have heard.
