G1 No Data Plan - Wifi Question?

I will recieve my G1 on tuesday and I was able to talk the rep into removing the g1 data service. I have t-zones and will probably try the proxy trick. My question is:

If I use a wifi connection will I have full functions/features of the G1 just like if I had a data plan?

what proxy trick? can someone tell me where to find this info?

what does it do? lets you use the G1 via wifi and have all the features and no need to pay for the data plan?

i am curious... please anyone shed a light here? thank you for your time.

Since 3G service isnt available in my area yet Im going to tell Tmobile to just let me keep my $20 data plan until they get service. Wouldnt have made since to already have the service since your working on a phone that uses that service.
