So

I get a special phone call from a friend that he would like to buy a g1 but is terrified by the fact that he read somewhere that G1 is highly rated to give u ear cancer and that I should use the Bluetooth as much as possible to try to avoid it.

Anyone has any news on that ?

also I'd appreciate some facts.. none of those "OMG UR FRIEND IS STOOPID!" comments.

Thank you.

Well, not really a fact, but I read A LOT of forums, and this is the first post I have EVER seen about ANY call-phone giving someone 'ear cancer'. Havw ypu tried searching the net for any stories of 'cell-phones AND ear cancer'?

wow, absolutely no proven confirmation from these amazing members here.

RockinRocky (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/members/rockinrocky/), thanks, I've been looking around google to see if I could find anything, but not much help. I thought i'd turn to this community maybe some members might've looked into this and maybe they had some answers.

If you're talking about radiation, the G1 is on the higher end of average. The G1 has a rating of 1.11, the iPhone has a rating of 0.97, the T-Mobile Shadow is 1.53. The phone with the lowest radiation level in the US is the RAZR V3 with a rating of 0.14 and the highest is the Moto ZN5 with a rating of 1.59.

Here's the CNET chart:

nickbunyun,

I haven't heard of any documented reports. I've read some of what you have; though not exactly of this nature, but it's only been here say. I've found a few articles on this (if any), mostly it is still about brain cancer, brain stem problems related to, etc. But no actual documented reports.

I think we're fine. Hope this has reassured you. :)

I also have some time to burn so I'll do a few searches on my end and contact some of my professors in that field of study for you.

To other members on this thread,

Please don't bash other's questions. Thank you.

I've done a quick search for you. Here are some of my findings. Don't know if you've already seen these...

http://cellphones.about.com/b/2008/09/10/do-cell-phones-cause-cancer-list-of-cell-phone-dos-donts.htm

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245098,00.html

http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Study_No_Evidence_Cell_Phones_Cause_Cance r.asp

Also,

I have contacted one of my professors and he said that it's very unlikely. Reports document no vast increase in patients w/ cancer now then they did back when radios were the 'only means of communication'.

[Correction] No vast increase in cancer patients that link cancer to cell phone use...

He then elaborated that a radiation ratio of what another member posted here (sorry can't remember the user's name :o ) can't cause any harmful effects to develop even if prolonged. There have been findings and documented events of people being discovered to have brain tumors develop, but there is no link as to it is actually cell phones that cause it. If someone was exposed to radiation, rf, gamma, x, and etc radiation they'd show symptoms of poisoning (i.e. throwing up, severe headaches, chest pains, partial or total blindness, etc.)

hope this helps.

Be careful, ear cancer is dangerous.
Like any cancer really.

However with ear cancer comes a TUMAH and sure enough, it can easily access your brain because it's near the vicinity of the brain.

And if a hacker gets ahold of your blue tooth signal he will be able to control your brain via the TUMAH!

So please, watch out and be careful. Ear cancer is no joke.

I have documents and not 98% of the time made up statistics proving the existence of ear cancer. Again, ear cancer and it's blue tooth capable TUMAH is no joke.

if you happen to get a TUMAH, i would suggest getting to the CHOPPUH

if your woried about "radiation" from the phone giving you cancer a bluetooth headset won't help those emit "radiation" as well.

You won't get "ear cancer", but there is no proof either way that the radiation causes cancer.

Cancer causing cell-phones have been "proven" to be safe, and to be dangerous.

Short answer: No to ear cancer, but nobody knows for certain if cell phones cause cancer or not.

The FCC has regulations on how much radiation can be emitted by phones. G1 won't emit significantly more than any other phone on the market, and could possibly emit less, I haven't checked. The information is available in the book you got with your G1.

This thread has gone off-topic.
