Is there any official or non-official information about when local dealers in non-3G cities will be able to order G1's for customers? I'm very frustrated because I get a 15% discount through my employer if I go through a specific local authorized dealer. I called them today and they said they can't order them and don't know when they will be able to (he thought next year some time)! So if I order online, I lose the discount, if I go with the local guy, I either wait for who knows how long, or I pick some crappy WinMobile phone!!!

This rollout is really frustrating. People in the UK will be able to get this phone before I can get it in a mid-size US city. Ideas anyone???:(

Perhaps you missed the part in my original post about the local dealer stating that he is NOT ABLE TO ORDER any G1's at this time. He said he can't even order one for himself and he is the owner of an authorized T-Mobile dealer.

No one really knows if or when this will happen. If you want the phone, just order it. You would only be saving about $30 anyway - it's not a HUGE discount.

If it was $30, I wouldn't worry about it, but it's 15% each month on my entire family plan which, over the 2 yr contract, would add up to about $360. That's what's making this such a frustrating thing.

Oh. That's different. I see what you mean. An you can only buy the phone from one particular authorized dealer for the discount??? Ouch.

Can the dealer order the phone for you? Perhaps that may work.
