It's all up to the user. Search some of our threads and find out as much as you can about Android.

I cant say you should..but the g1 is a great phone, so is the iphone. Just get the phone and if u dont like it return it before the 14 day hit.

Honestly - after owning both devices I cant see a situation where someone would take a iPhone over this G1 and I mean this seriously.
If you have questions you can search the forums, or simply drop me a line on AIM or MSN and I can answer any questions you may have and share my thoughts.
I absolutely love this device.

Honestly if you already have an iPhone, I might consider waiting and see what new Android apps are released, some fixes to the OS or maybe announcements soon on new Android phones.

I would certainly recommend the G1 to anyone. Just be weary that the experience on the Iphone and the G1 will be different. When you go from total touch screen to touchscreen, qwerty and trackball it can be somewhat of a learning curve. After about a few hours with the device though I think you will like it. Try going to a store and playing with it before you buy.

Definitely switch. I sold my iPhone a couple of days after getting my G1. Granted there are a few bugs here and there but updates will fix that eventually. iPhones still have bugs now a year or so later.
No Way!
Unless you hate att as much as I do.

android has a ways to go. as much as i like what android will bring to the game eventually, anyone saying yes is not being a realist.
why are u contemplating giving up your iphone.
to me thats like giving up labron for an up and coming rookie.

The phone still has a long ways to go, but I owned the iPhone, and had both the G1 and iphone on the 20th of oct, the iPhone went straight on craigslist the next day, and in the last week or so the phone has just got better and better.
and like alot of people, the battery actually last LONGER then my iPhone when doing a similar usage comparison, the pages load faster on 3g (the battery worked better after a few days for w/e reason)

If I could afford the montly bill I had with the Iphone 3G, I'd probably have kept it.
But I can't.
I find that the G1 is a very good phone, and as close to an Iphone as I've seen or owned. With open source OS, we will get a lot of programs that are good eventually. But right now, software wise the Iphone, but of course the iphone has got a nice head start and some quality free applications out there.
Personally, I'm going to be getting an Ipod Touch because all I really miss is some of the streaming applications (Pandora, I love radio, etc), and video watching from the iphone.
As a phone, the G1 is far superior in reception and signal in the So Cal area at least in my use. Can't comment on other locations. But I can say after using the crap out of my G1 I still haven't dropped a call, and I always get speeds of 700 or so when speed checking, where as the AT&T service always gave me edge like speeds indoors most of the time and at least a couple dropped calls a week at least.

Then the G1 is definitely for you.
I love this thing. Try waiting a bit too have some more options, though - The G1 is a fine device and I have no complaints, but companies like Motorola are working extremely hard in churning out multiple Android devices. I'd wait till about April if I were you.
Actually, I couldn't wait that long. Try to wait, at least :D

I posted a pretty large iPhone vs G1 post on my blog. Here is the link if you are interested in reading it. I have both phones and I tried to go into as much detail as I could.

I'd say stick with iPhone. I got the G1 just to be an "early adopter"
The same reason I owned a Commodore Vic20. I know it's going to have a big impact on computing an I want to touch it first.
But in reality, iPhone is smoother for now.
If you really want Android, wait on another handset that has it (coming in like January).
Or maybe come back to this handset after the kinks are worked out.

Yeah, but at one point Labron was an unproven rookie straight out of highschool, and now look at him. Turned around an entire franchise and is just about the biggest name in basketball in just a few years. My point? There can be another Labron, and who knows, maybe somebody thats even better than Labron. Just like there is an Iphone now, the G1 is the unproven rookie that in a very short period of time can and will be leaps and bounds better than the Iphone. Not sure if the analogy made sense..

To fix some things...its spelled lebron. Lol
But ya. G1 is well worth it. Bugs will be fixed..so no need to worry about that.
