I have downloaded a ton of apps on this thing and it is now complaining that I am running low on space. It is now reporting 11mb free on my internal storage.
Is there any way to store apps on the SD card?

No, unfortunately not at this time. We are all hoping for an app or firmware to be released soon to address this. Right now, you just have to pick your apps wisely and uninstall what you don't use.

Go into your apps management under settings, look at the big ones (especially the browser) click on the app and then hit the erase data button. It will clear the cache and free up the space.

Mine is like 4MB, but I'm afraid to erase it in case I have to start all over.

Thanks for the kind thoughts but I should be able to download whatever I want on my phone.
Squabbling over megabytes is something I used to do in the 90's on my 486.

Tried the batter thing but it didn't help. I'll keep that in mind for the future though. Thanks. :)

that sucks they make a phone based off of its open source and "app"ness and then only give us not even a half of gig of space. thats not cool at all.
outstanding issue im having with wanting to download every new app and forgetting the old ones lol

I thought that this sounded like a great idea till I went to try it. I don't seem to have an erase data button in the apps management menu. I have an uninstall button and a one having to do something with permissions. Can someone clear this up for me please!

I noticed if I deleted a game I didn't seem to get any storage space back. But I did follow the advice and delete 13mb from the browzer. I lost all my bookmarks. That seems worth 13mb for the short term.
Yes how to get applications on the sim card?

Amen! When you get the phone from the store, you have less than 100 megs of space to play with. In the year 2008 (going on 2009) that is absurd. I find myself trying to scrape up a meg or two here and there meanwhile my SD card has 963MB free. Whats wrong with this picture? I fully understand the implications of allowing installation of apps onto removable media and all the cans of worms that can open but something has to be done. What about all the graphically rich games the iPhone has? One can presume those will start making their way to Android when the market accepts paid apps. It will be impossible have such a thing on the G1. 1 decent 3D game could easily kill your entire measly 96MB or whatever it is. What good is a 16GB max SD card if you can only put your media files on it?

I think in 2009 we will see google release an update that will allow us to save apps to sdcars... they are probably testing to see how it would work with market and how to cut back on the warez / bootleggin. Of software that windows mobile encountered... windows mobile has a boatload of warez sites but androind doesn't even have 1 that I have found.
Im sure early 2009 they'll have it where you can put all your apps on sdcard and shortcuts on the desktop, so the phones memory isnt really in trouble with the exception of what your running, they'll just change how all the memory is allocated, the os itself will run alot smoother as a result...
there gonna hafta do this is they expect not only android but the market to flourish

I think one of the problems for the developers is that if Apps can be saved to the SD, people would just share apps instead of everyone buying them.

Share and share alike.
I have faith in Google, I'm sure "09" will be a great year for them and us

Yeah apps can be shared just like they are on iphone, and all windows mobile devices... there are ways to create strings in apps to force them to check for valid registration key, and also can be made to verify online that the app is valid...
Not everyone knows where to get or how to install hacked software and the vendors still make them.. sometimes its good to have hacked or bootlegged items. If the software is too expensive a lot of users won't download, but if there were say some cool people or someone who was a tech junkie that had the software installed and knew how to use it well and demonstrate it to non owners and convince them into having an interest in the software, that would bring out word of mouth advertising. However I am not supporting hacked software, but unfortunatly this is america and the real world, so there's gonna be some rule breakers and some people that have to find ways around the system..

You can get around this by downloading MyBackup from the Market. It will back up your bookmarks (as well as just about everything else). Clear the browser data then restore your bookmarks. You'd think there would be a way to just clear your cache and keep you bookmarks, but not yet i guess.

I have faith in Google too. They are "growing up" in a lot of ways (which could have good...and I suppose some not as good results).

I figured out how to clear the market cache! I saw there was 10mb left on my phone so I downloaded two large games Brain Genius and Bonsai both 7mb each. Voila my market is now 108k and I have 32mb clear with the two games still on here (I'll remove them though)
I was a little nervous my phone might freeze or something cause it was hanging a bit, but i restarted it and it runs great now.
Good luck
