The first unlocked T-Mobile G1 video has surfaced and in celebration of the first unlocked G1 we will be giving away 3 free unlock codes in this contest.

This contest is open to any registered Android Community member. To enter members must submit a photo showing their loyalty to Android Community in a creative way. Some examples are: Putting an Android Community logo on their car, wearing the AC shirt at a large event, carving an Android Community sculpture or even if you are fearless, getting an Android Community tattoo.

Photos must be of yourself, be sure to include your screen name in the picture somewhere. Photos must be unaltered; any photo that is deemed to be altered in any way will automatically be disqualified.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, Why would you want to unluck your phone i mean your able to set your phone up to recieve a single from AT&T towers why do you need to unlock it, are you trying trick someone?????

If im not mistake unlocking the phone just allows you to jack AT&T's single or something like that? Because im able to just change my network between T-Mobile and AT&T, in settings, so why unlock the phone?

OK my bust i just check it out, and all unlocking does is let you use a differnet companys sim card in a differnet phone. To me yet another waste of time. Dont sign up with that company if you know you want a differnet companys phone...

But currently G1 is available only with T-Mobile.
People are left with no option , rather than going for a locked contract with them.

I have searched my little pea brain and come up empty for a way to show my loyalty. The fact that I'm on the site all day and night? No way to take a picture of that. The fact that I got a coworker to order a G1 and visit the site frequently? Again no picture. I think my loyalty to AC is strong. I just don't think plastering a logo in my cube or on my car is a good way of showing it. If someone were to make a GOOD Android Community wallpaper I would be happy to use it on my dual monitors at work.

I love the G1 and I love AC, I just can't prove it. :p

I really like what you guys do for the community. myself why i have not entered this contest is because im not clear on what unlocking the phone will really do for me since i dont plan on getting rid of the phone anytime soon. but keep on keeping on guys!

But if its a prize, usually its prized by someone. Mostly though the involvement is the funnest part.

as for unlocking..


what if your over your minutes and can borrow someones sim, use there plan/sim..
or can't get signal and your friends phone is dead too..
or you decide to use another plan for business
or you happen to go out of the country.
o and if your friend needs to use yor phone... (not always about self)

Thats the point! We are all AC addicts but getting a picture to prove it is kinda hard... Maybe a poem, short story, or edited song (lyrics) could be good, with pics as a bonus... or a qhole different challenge with the same prize... just saying.

Are you from HTC? I just called them and they said they weren't authorized to unlock the phones because they were TMO branded?? So confused. TMO won't do it cos brother is a new customer and has to wait 90 days. Am I stuck between a rock and a hard place?

I wasn't going to enter because I, too, have no plans to go to a different carrier. Lukster made some good points, however. So, okay, I'll play! I hope the picture doesn't have to be taken with the G1. This is straight out of my Sony Cyber-Shot, just cropped it.
