I talked to T-Mobil and if you do not have 3G access its because they dropped it off your plan.. they are requesting you call in and have it reconnected or wait a couple of hours until they have it fixed....
They do not know why it dropped it off of everyone's plan...

CORRECTION: They dropped everyone who has downloaded more than 5 tip calculators off the market

They didnt drop it off of anyones plan the 3G network is down and they are working on fixing it in the Tri-State Area.. They cant just drop things off of a plan and expect you to call that is why you sign a Contract.

their is no 10mb cap or any cap it is UNLIMITED DATA where does everyone get this fake ass info from?

just posting what the rep on the phone told me that for some reason they dropped the 34.99 plan off my account and it had to be re-added... she contact the G1 group and verified this information...

It happened to me while I was on the phone with T-Mobile this morning. She said " Oh wait what plan did you have again? So I told her (Cs) and she said she had to add my feature back ON! It was NOT on my phone I was so mad. I live in Mass sooo I don't know what to tell you but it can happen.

Yep, that is correct, as far as it being everyone, I'm not sure, but the G1 plan was not on my account and I had to add it.
Someone at T-Mobile dropped the bomb...again.

Actually it turned out that T-Mobile wanted to determine how many people wake up before 9am on Wednesdays. So they suspended everyone's 3G connection, and see how many people will complain. They were planning on dropping everyone's 2G connection as well, but didn't because then people wouldn't be able to call 6-1-1 to complain.

The rep told me New York 3G is completely down for a few hours and its affecting all their phones nationwide but as far as NO 3g thats only in new york..

No there is a cap, but it's not 10MB it's 10GB.

I've had this problem since yesterday morning. I called them twice, and the operator told me that my free plan expired yesterday, and my new plan $24.99 unlimited data would start today.
I turned on my phone and I have no connection. So, that's not the problem.

I just got off the phone with t-mobile because I wasn't getting a connection to the web, and they told me I didn't have a data plan on my account. I told them I have been using the phone for the past week, and they said that was just a promotional plan and that I would have to add a data plan to my account.

There is not a cap. The 10GB cap is something they may implement in the future, but it hasn't happened yet.

my service got cut off at 9am EST this morning all of a sudden. It was all good last night.
I think it's back up right now. Just restarted the phone and 3G is back on.
update: Got 3G icon on the phone. but it doesn't actually have a connection..checked mytmobile.com..don't have any data plan on it..wtf tmo?? where's my G1 plan????????

If you even got to the 10 GB cap, its not like you can't surf the web or use data anymore. It'll just be slower. I think edge slower. But I only use edge, so I don't think a slow down would be very obvious.
BTW, search the forums for more info about the cap.

Ok I will call t mobile today to confirm for myself because there seems to be a lot of mis information floating around this forum as of late, however I am aware that there was a promotional " free Period" for a week or two that us pre order kinds were getting free use of data on the network untill OCT 29th which is today. Some of you are saying that your CS reps at tmobile stated that your Data plan you signed up for was removed or dropped from your account? Can we get verification from people that this HAS happened to, to let us know what market or City and state you are in and how you first became aware of this and what the CS rep has told you the reason was and what the result was.....we can help other AC users that will be flooding the forum later today with this same question, so were can allow the moderators to merege the threads with one good infomrmative one.
I will be posting back later this morning once I speak to 611 also and let you know what I find out.

Im in Dallas and the rep verified that yes the plan was dropped from my account for some reason and she set it back up.. however mine is still not working... she said it may take and hour or two....

They are just as misinformed. Just got off the phone with a rep and she says she doesn't know why my internet its not working, everything looks right. Im very upset with T-Mo right now, that was like my 7th call in the last 7 days. :mad:

My data plan wasn't working this morning but wifi worked fine, called tmobile they told me my data plan had not been added back on after the promo week, said it would take about 2 hours to add me back on, now I can connect with my data plan fine. I'm in Portland Maine, so just Edge no 3G up here.

Mine was dropped as well, just checked after reading this thread. I called and they have added it back. They were very nice, but someone has screwed up and started dropping plans from people.

I was told by the representative when I called 2nd time to report problem (I dialed 611) that the reason I didn't have connection or network was not working was because my free week of data expired (it did expired yesterday since I got my G1 last Tuesday) and system automatically "shut it off" and she forced the system to start my unlimited data/400 text yesterday evening (it was supposed to kick in today).
But in my case is not like I didn't have connection "all day". It was on and off. They did a "tower reset" and I was able to use network, but after a few hours, the problem came back.
This morning, I have no connection whatsoever again, and this was after the fact the rep told me I would "not have this issue any longer"
I even received a notification this morning confirming of my new "data plan"
But NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER RIGHT NOW.

Kept getting issue with no connection with my phone this morning, I CALLED T-Mobile and they said I did NOT have a plan, so the super friendly apologetic CSR said she would set it up. She said it would take a while to connect, but it would happen faster than it used to. Once I got off the phone with them, I got a text message from 456 with info on the G1 at the T-mo forum and support site within a couple of minutes. I still don't have access after 15 mins. You should call CSR at 611 and verify if you have the plan... my suggestion anyway... free call anyway!
Service back after 20-25 mins... hope no more issues.

If my plan drops off I'll just add t-zones on. I don't live in a 3G area anyways. No reason to pay extra for something I'm not getting.

Just logged in to check mine and i i have the G1 package still. Funny thing is i signed up for the cheaper package but wanted the full package...well somehow Tmobile read my mind and gave me the full package =)
In Rhode Island and BTW I got that G1 forums text days ago.

They dropped it off my plan. I had to call and readd this morning. They told me when I called in to add when I got my phone on the 20th that I wouldn't have to cal back but I did anyway. They told me it was a network outage at 5 am then I called back and the other guy was like it was dropped off completel.y

I called to confirm I still had the G1 plus plan. I did, but still no connection. They filed a work-ticket for me (whatever that means) and gave me a bonus 100 minutes. Still no intraweb connection, though. :( Funny thing is that I can still check my e-mail from the phone, just not the 'net! :(

I too had to add the plan. Went to t-mobile.com, added the plan, got the text from tmobile, powered down, removed the battery for a few minutes, powered back up and I'm good to go now.

last week when i got the phone, i logged in to mytmobile and saw that my old plan was still up. i changed it then to the g1 plan and have had no interuptions since and mytmobile says i have what i changed it to last week.

okay this is just friggin great.. I call Tmobile Monday about 1am cause i was having the problem of no service in a 4bar/ full service area, the reps have no clue on what happened. They add and remove the plan and some more stuff, about 10 hard resets, 2hrs on the phone and g1 still not working. Next G1 partially working but still losing signal, and was told to just send it back cause it was a defect... now the issue could have been fixed and im without my G1 till God knows when... Aint this some BS.. im not even in a 3G area and lost edge service and voice calls on it... Sent my G1 back yesterday all for nothing, but i guess on the bright side of the sh_t im getting a brand new one soon. I wonder if i cann call Tmo about this now that there was a fix to the issue i had, and the inconvenience of having to go back to my tmo wing.

I just noticed that while I didn't have a data plan for a couple hours this morning. I was still able to get my Gmail on the phone.
I couldn't browse the web or load the Android Market but I got a couple mails on the phone...

Damn! I have one word! RESEARCH. Don't take information as true ( no matter the source) . Always try to verify where peeps get their info from. EVen if its from a valid source....sometimes people give out misinformation. It happens all da time.

actually i did the research and came in this forum checking to see if anyone else had the same problem, and aparently I was the first.. only resolve that someone came up with was to give the phone a good whack... didnt work.. so I called tmo customer service and they didnt know wtf was going on. they tried the remove free plan and put the correct plan on and the g1 was working fine whne i woke up for work monday at home.. but as soon as i walked outside the front door and began my trip to work, i went back to no signal land.. got off work came back home and back to 2 bars.. woke up yesterday morning had 4 bars at home but as soon as i left the house it went back to 2 bars or less... mind you With any phone I ever had with tmobile and even my wing which is on my second line all have 4 full bars all the time in my area.. so when i called tmobile they were confused because if the g1 is getting no signal and my wing is getting full signal and im not in an area with 3g they assumed it was a defective unit.. also i was probably one of the first people with this problem, and know after checking this forum and tmobile forums I see that now there are quite a few people having the same issue... i would rather send the phone back thinking it was a defect than keepe the phone and not being able to use it. plus i think tmobile wanted me to send it back cause its not good to have their premier phone in hand as a customer and keep telling people im mad i cant get a signal but my other phone gets signal.. that would be bad promotion for the G1 aka poor word of mouth...

You have the EXACT same problem as me.
But I will think hard to send it back for me to get another one. But if problem persists and doesn't get fix, I have no other solution.

Thanks for everyones tips. I called T-Mobile and they told me for some reason my G1 service was removed. She had no clue why this happened. She was apologetic and restored my service.
Glad I got this fixed quickly thanks to the androidcommunity :cool:

By the way, this is not specific to 3G. I am on Edge and the same thing happened. I called in and the rep said that many people's G1 data plan got mistakenly dropped. She had to ask me which data plan I wanted, and then she restored it.
It is better to call in than wait. If you wait, it'll get fixed, but they are trying to figure out who had what and who was affected. If you call in, you can tell them and they'll fix it right there.
Edit: Plus, she gave me a couple hundred extra minutes for my inconvenience =)

it seems like i was one of the first with this issue on monday early morning..
tmobile should give me a finders fee for going thru this problem.. plus i already sent mine back so i will get a new one since they thought the unit had a defect.. hopefully it will come with the headset adapter when i get my replacement.
I just checked my plan and they dropped my unlimited data access as well (in Dallas).

I have a data plan on my account, I actually have TWO, G1 unilmited and $4.99 T-Zones. I when I try to remove the T-Zones, it tries to remove the G1 also. I am going to try this, and put the G1 plan back on and see how it goes.

my G1 just suddenly started loosing its data networking (3G and Edge) until i restart it... happened twice today. same for a friend of mine. i called tmo the first time and they feigned ignorance, had me restart the phone. it worked for a while, but just happened again. wonder wtf is going on.

i've been checking my account online and i still have my blackberry data plan, and neither of the g1 plans are there just the tzones. im wondering if i should just leave it cause the blackberry plan is cheaper and my phone works fine

I'd suggest calling Customer Service. My edge was working again within minutes after calling.
