I am looking seriously into buying the G1 phone. I always research all details, particularly before I sign a contract. I searched all over T-Mobile's site for a copy of the 2-year contract they require for the G1, but it seems to be well hidden and/or unavailable for viewing.

I know some carrier contract terms have changed in the last few years -- my wife's Verizon contract, which ends in 6 weeks, has a $175 penalty for early termination, but $5 of that penalty drops off for each full month of service completed and paid for. My Verizon contract that ended just a month ago had a $175 penalty, no matter how many months of the contract one had fulfilled. So Verizon loosened their contract terms slightly a couple of years ago, and that was due to consumer complaints about these infernal contracts, I understand.

Does anyone have a link to a copy of the full contract that one must sign for the T-Mobile G1 phone so that I can study the details?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The only way you can view a contract is if your about to sign it. T-Mobile has a "Terms and Conditions" book you can get if you visit a cooperate location, but you won't find it on the net.

Sneaky -- thanx for that info.

Perhaps someone who has already signed the contract and has their copy wouldn't mind scanning it and posting it here for the benefit of all of us who are considering it, but haven't yet signed one.

I will say that T Mobile has a flat $200 fee for early cancellation. That was the one thing that stood out to me. Everything else looked plain jane.

I believe for all contracts "signed" after June 28, 2008, the ETF is pro-rated after 6 months. After that time, it drops to $100 and $5 off per month after that.

I think that's how it works...

For what it's worth, here is a copy of the T-Mobile T&Cs:
http://www.t-mobile.com/Templates/Popup.aspx?PAsset=Ftr_Ftr_TermsAndConditions&print=true

The applicable section:
3. * Your Term of Service and Termination Fees. You agree to maintain Service with us for your minimum term (‘Term”). (Periods of suspension of Service do not count toward your Term.) After your Term, you will become a month-to-month customer. EXCEPT FOR MONTH-TO-MONTH CUSTOMERS, AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE WILL APPLY IF YOU CHOOSE TO END YOUR SERVICE BEFORE THE END OF YOUR TERM, OR IF WE TERMINATE IT EARLY. FOR SERVICE ACTIVATED, OR ACCEPTANCE OF A NEW ONE OR TWO YEAR TERM, ON OR AFTER 06/28/08, THE EARLY TERMINATION FEE IS: $200 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH MORE THAN 180 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; $100 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH 91 TO 180 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; $50 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH 31 TO 91 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; AND THE LESSER OF $50 OR YOUR MONTHLY RECURRING CHARGES (including any applicable taxes and fees) IF YOU TERMINATE IN THE LAST 30 DAYS OF YOUR TERM. The Early Termination Fee is part of our rates and is not a penalty. The Early Termination Fee applies only to the extent permitted by law. Unless you request otherwise, your termination will be effective at the end of your current billing cycle. You will remain responsible for all fees and charges for your Service and usage through termination. If you bought your wireless Device from an independent T-Mobile dealer or other third-party vendor, they may charge a separate termination fee.
