Hey folks,

My favorites are adding themselves. I cannot delete them from favorites, If i long press I only see delete from contacts. One was even a guy that called and I did not pick up, Android thought it was my favorite.

Its a feature. Do you have any starred contacts? If so they will be at the top. The phone seems to keep track of people you contact the most, regardless of if you have starred them.

I told my friends at work about this feature...big mistake. Now they all keep calling to get the top position.

When you long press a contact, isn't there a "remove from favorites" button?

Edit: actually scratch that, that just makes it so there is no star next to the contact, but if it is a frequently called contact it stays on the list. Though it seems if it isn't a frequently called contact, that will remove the contact from the favorites list.

But isnt there a star next to each contract so we can favorite our self? whats the point of the star then?

Star is the same as favoriting, it's just a visual way to doing it. When you star someone it is automatically added to favorites. Unstar seems to be the same as unfavoriting.

However what I am saying is if there is someone on the favorite list which you have called, even removing the star or choosing to "remove from favorites" doesn't remove them.

The good news is it seems though you can't remove them from the list, if you unstar them, they go to the bottom. So just star the people who you actually want as "favorites" and unstar the ones that you don't really consider favorites.

Edit: another thing I wanted to add is if you go to contacts you can press menu, "display group" and pick "Starred in Android" and it will only show the starred people in your contacts list.

I found that the only way is to delete the contact and re-add them.
Very annoying feature indeed

Step 1
Goto settings--> applications--> manage applications--> scroll down to, Gmail, touch click it--> touch click, manage space--> touch click, starred, until its blank (not synced)

Step 2
Then click the back key, scroll down to, my favorites, touch click it--> touch click, clear data--> touch click, ok

This should clear all your favorites and keep them from showing up again...

Disregard step 1 if you want to repopulate your favorites.

It seems that items from the Call Log add themselves to the bottom of the Favorites list.

After clearing the data from myFaves as suggested by widto08, my Call Log data was gone and I had to wait for my contact list to resyncronize.

Once the list resyncronized, I called a number which is NOT on my favorites list and the phone added that entry to the bottom of the favorites list (without a star). When I cleared the Call Log by going to the Call Log tab and using Menu->Clear call log, the unwelcome item stayed in the favorites list.

I hereby decree this a bug, or, at the very least, an unwelcome feature. I am smart enough to pick my own Favorites and I know exactly which numbers I want Favorited.

Perhaps the Android team and Google should add an automatic category called "Suggested Favorites" on the phone only (this would not be a group which would synchronize back to the GMail Contact Manager). This group should have a menu option to "Clear Suggested Favorites." I would not mind going through the extra step of displaying the Suggested Favorites category to find the numbers I call the most other than the ones already Favorited. I DO mind having to delete all of my Call Log and Contact List in order to be able to clear the unstarred-auto-Favorites from the list.

Check out the app Tiger. It monitors the Frequently Called list and prevents contacts from ever appearing on it without having to manually clear the list.

You can find the trial version at (link only works from an android phone) http://market.android.com/details?id=com.bl.apps.Tiger.Trial
