I don't really receive as many emails on the gmail, but it's been 2 days, had no notifications on the phone, i was hitting gmail app, showed no new msg. I logged in on gmail to write an email (didnt wanna do it on the g1).. and bam 5 inboxes that traces back from 2 days to present.

When we check "auto-sync" does that mean that I get a notification of email?
70% of the time I have 3g coverge, and I've been on wifi.
But i didnt get any new notification, nor updates.

I know it has a "reload" button, but shouldn't auto-sync do that?

Sounds like it's time for you to do a reset to factory defaults. The auto-sync for Gmail works very well. However, at one point, my contacts wouldn't sync. After a day of frustration, I did the reset. Yeah, I lost all my apps; but at least the phone is working correctly now.

umm, well right now im on edge, and i just sent 2 emails, im checking them for the past 10 minutes, it still says "Sending" I've checked the weather and browsed the net a little bit, it works.

Why are my msgs's not gettin sent?

------- EDIT --------

After 20 min, i went and reloaded the page, (Menu > Reload)
as soon as it reloaded it sent the msgs

Yeah, that should work. I have all of them checked, but that's because I rely heavily on the other two as well. Have you tried rebooting your phone?

Also, by any chance you are on EDGE and WiFi at the same time? That shouldn't be a problem usually. But if your phone keeps on switching back and forth between the two, then nothing will get sent.

You have to leave auto-sync checked. Otherwise you will have to sync manually. Basically, it's saying, "Hey G1, auto-sync the following for me: Gmail." If you don't have it checked, the statement changes to, "Hey G1, when I tell you to sync, sync the following for me: Gmail."

The G1 should auto-sync every 30 seconds to a minute, unless you change something, i.e. wrote an email. When you write an email, it should sync instantly.

I've had this problem on and off and know I know how to fix it... in my case anyway.

My Moto Milestone wouldn't auto sync (or sync manually for that matter) if I was low on storage space where the hard drive icon shows in the top left of the status bar. As soon as I removed enough apps to make the icon go away, it started syncing again.

The reason it sometimes worked if I did it manually after a reboot was that Android hadn't performed the drive space check yet and I could squeeze in a manual sync.
