Remember that another kind of shortcut you can do is the search shortcuts which are found in the application menu in the settings. [Its under quick launch].. I know when I use sidekicks they're convinient.. i have yet to begin really using it on the G1's

Hiya, i had the same prob. Turns out if you touch and hold down the shortcut you dont want anymore it will vibrate and you'll be able to drag it to a trash can icon that appears at the bottom of the screen. This ditches the shortcut :) Sorted

So that works for most of my shortcuts.
But a few of my shortcuts(such as email, calender and webbrowser) will only open up if I touch and hold down..
Anyone know how to fix this or an alternative method to removing them?
Please?

You press down on the icon and the bottom of the screen will have REMOVE on it or will be a trash can.
Keep pressing it as you drag it to the bottom of the screen and it'll be removed.
This should be in your phone's instruction manual

I had the same issue. I resolved it by terminating Swype which was running in the background. If you're not using Swype, then some other application may be interfering with home screen management.
