in advance sorry mods if this is posted in the wrong section or if its a double post but i did do a search and found nothing ...
i was messing around with anycut on my g1 and i added something called device info it basically shows all the software and runtime info of your g1 , and at the bottom of this lil thingy i see there is 2 bars one blank bar for text and a bar that says check for upgrade ...
so in the blank bar i type TC4-RC28 ( the new ota)
And It Starts Checking In
Now My Question Is ... What The H*&* I Come Across ?
mods if this vialates anything please close ty =]

If it didn't work now I wouldn't think it's reasonable to assume it may work in the future. Your phone simply could have been refreshing itself to check its own status, not checking in with the servers for recent updates.

Oh my god I am really starting to hate this android browswer. I've typed the following 5 times. And it keeps laoding a wrong page. And then when I press stop it doesn't stop fully ot just gives me a blank screen.
Anyways. I tried what you said. It changed a "checkin status" to "checkin_success" but that's it.

I have been playing this for the last week. the box is asking for a build type. at the top it says the build type is user. I even tried entering that in to see if iwould get the update but it just goes to checkin_success.
But if you turn your radio off and try to do a checkin, it will give a bunch of error information. i am sure someone can use it to see where its going. I haven't had the time to check it out.

TmoNews reported that there was to be an over the air update (OTA) for the G1 on the 23rd (http://androidcommunity.com/t-mobile-g1-update-on-october-23rd-20081023/), but after no update was made available, reports changed the release date to November 2nd.

For "Build Type" you should enter "user" -- if you look through the Device Info, it's broken down into categories, and one category is "Build Type" which it lists as "user". If the text box was labeled "Build ID", then I'd say enter "TC4-R28", because that's the format listed in the Device Info (although when we get it, the build ID may very well be TC4-R32 or something, especially if they're adding the browser fix). Anyway, given that it says "Build Type", I'm pretty sure it should be "user". So maybe when the OTA upgrade is available, this will give us a way to request the upgrade instead of waiting?
