Well I waited awhile to see G1 reviews, but now I need it - cant stop thinking about it.

So I went to the TMOB store today, and I just purchased a SKLX last year with 2 year contract.... so the guy told me that it would be 379$. I went with a mindset of 179$ so I obviously refused it. He told me that I could buy a homeline for 10$/month but needed a router and all this nonsense.

So whatever, all G1 hope lost.... but then I thought my grandma has TMOB, and no contract (or it expired). Would I be able to get the G1 through her account adding 2 years to hers... and just keep the phone for myself (and change my plan too).

I think that would work since he said something if I get another account/phone with 2 years, I can get the discount price.

when i wanted my shadow i just added a line to my account and they gave me the discounted price... but remember you have to pay $10 a month for that extra line..

It would work, but you would need a change of phone number and what not.

Plus, the account info would be under her name (so whenever you call CSR you'd have to tell them your grandma's last four digits of her Social and her name and what not) and you'd probably want to move the billing address over to your house.

I'd do it ;)

Well, its my Grandma's phone, but its under my moms name - so the SS shouldnt be a problem. And TMO wouldnt be able to just put the phone under my name/number? Because she is just buying the phone? Idk how this works.

tmobile can put the phone under your name. i've done it. since it is under your mom's name, she would call them up and tell them she wants to do a change of ownership and transfer it to you. this would put the bill under your name & number without breaking any contracts that she is under with tmobile, which in this case doesn't exist since it has expired or whatnot.

all you'd have to do is swap the sim cards.

Exactly, if you called in and ordered the phone on your grandmas number all they do is send you a stock G1. When you receive the phone put your sim card in it and call in to get the G1 data plan and you'll be good to go. Thats the beauty of the sim, you can use any phone that has a sim card slot in it. Kinda messed up that you're adding 2 years to your grandmas contract just so you can have a phone though.
