G1 never rings!

my g1 phone never rings

i see "forward when busy" is set to go directly to voicemail. if i select 'disable' it refreshes the screen and still shows as being forwarded. If someone calls me, I want to answer. It is a phone after all...

WTF?! I also do not get any notification of text messages, unless i look at the screen. I want it to beep or vibrate.

settings>sound& display> all the setting you need are in there, make sure to set your notification ringtone or sound, thats the sound you will get when a notification apperars in the top tab of your phone:cool:

yeah, i've been through there and that is all set.

still no ring. All calls are going straight to voicemail, which isn't good because this is my work number.

have you tried contacting customer service yet? They are probably going to have you reset the phone.

do you have the rings extended app installed? I had your same issue until I uninstalled it. Now everything is back to normal

i had a similar issue and just did a battery pull to cold boot it. seemed to work doesnt hurt to try

Something like this happens to my g1 too. My txt notification does not work sometimes but it is setup in the settings.. dunno why??

I wouldn't recommend this at all. A hard reset by turning the phone off then holding the Home + Back button while turning it on. This will do a full format and rebuild of the phone.

The G1 is based off Linux and just pulling the power from a Linux OS hardly ever ends happily!
