Since i am hearing the G1 will be announced on the 23 or 27th this month. There used to be a "preorder" rumor for the 13th but failed. My contract for the sidekick is due up on OCT 13th this year. I am wondering if they release the phone AFTER the contract is up. Will i still be eligable for discounts if any or have to pay full price.

I believe that is something that would have to be completely up to them. I am sure if you called in and spoke with someone that they would work with you and do everything they could do. After all it is making a sale. Usually carriers can do a month to month basis after your contract is up. I see no reason why after that you could not sign a new contract and get new member price. Sorry if I could not be more of a help.

Well I recently stopped by and asked the guy from Tmobile stand in one of the malls if my contract is expired and when it will be expired if is not.
He said it will expire in November - now, my contract was 24 months - which would mean I am past the edge of 22 months just 3-4 days ago :) and should be eligible for the full discount. If not - I will give them a call before I place my pre-order and negotiate to give me full discount on the phone regardless of my contract still being active - IF - they say I have to wait until November 10 when my contract is expiring

I'm sorry but you are an admin here and that's the best answer?
Here's the facts...
Once the contract is up, you can still continue paying month by month. My contract is already up for several months now. I still paying my cell phone bills month by month.
You are still eligible for all the discounts once your contract is up.
And guess what? The release date for the HTC Dream G1 is October 13 when you contract will be up so you can sign up for a new contract and new phone on that date. :)
