Number of Yahoo! emails won't clear out

I have added Yahoo! email account and it seems like it is working fine, I get notifications, etc. However, when I click my email icon it shows 17 emails in my Yahoo! account. I went to my account on the web and I decided to delete all of my emails out of the account so there aren't any emails left in the account. I did a refresh of my Yahoo! account on my G1 and it's still showing 17 emails. I then deleted my Yahoo! account on my G1 and then added it again and it STILL shows 17 emails. Also, the emails that I did delete from my Yahoo! account on my G1 went to trash and I can't delete them off my phone from trash.

Is this part of the Yahoo! POP issue going on? Does anybody know how to fix this? It's driving me up the wall because I like to keep a clean email box.

As far as I know this is a bug. I have the same problem. My theory is that it is intentional to force you into GMAIL. Hopefully they will provide a fix for it.
