My G1 crashed so its going back for a new one

I dont know wtf happened but i was using google maps and compass view to make sure mines was working, closed google maps, and then my internet signal went away. I could recieve phone calls but no internet. called tmo cust care and they couldnt fix it, no network issues or anything in the system. About 10 hard resets with 2 different reps, and the resolve is to send it back and order another one.
Im really pissed about it cause i dont want to go back to my wing until i get another g1. I already miss it already and i havent sent it back yet, but it will be going back if its not working in the morning.

i tried and the signal would come back for a second but it wasnt an edge signal just regular calls... im posting from my wing now ( the only thing i miss about the wing is the keyboard)....

I thought crashing means when it boots u out of a app/web ? At least that's what I thought it ment on a iPhone/touch.

Does anyone know what part of the phone houses the antanea.. maybe I should bang there... I just put the sim back in the g1 now I have 2 bars and can connect.. but I usually have 4 bars in my house...

okay now i just tried google maps and it seems like my compass is all jacked up... when i trun the screens starts spinning around and around unless i hold my hand real steady it barely stays still..
so i guess i will have to hold out for a few weeks and send this one back and reorder a new one.

Also did a speed test, with 2 bars showing I'm getting 146kbps..
Is that good?

the compas is working.. now im just trying to get my signal strength back which is most important...

Turn it off and turn it back on where your signal is the strongest. Outside,back bedroom,etc.

the signal is usually the strongest in my room.. which is where im at right now... but im gonna see how the signal is around town today on my way to work.. if it never goes to 4 bars and i cant get a signal at work then its going back on tuesday... since ive had the g1 i havent had this poor service in my house.. my wing which is on my second line has 4 full bars all the time here in the house.. and i had 4 bars on my g1 until about 12mid

woke back up and still have 2 bars borderline 3 bars

okay weird thing just happened about an hour ago.. im getting 4 full bars again but it dropps back down to 3 sometimes.. all of a sudden.. didnt do much to it except whack it upside my shifter in the car, squeeze the hell out of it, then kept doing mobile speed test... did about 10 in a row...
spoke too soon..now back to 2 bars..crept to 3bars...

The signal strength of your cellphone will vary indoors depending upon interference from the building structure. Mine will vary between 2 and 3 bars depending how close I am to a window in the office. Also 146bps is the download speed I have been getting with EDGE in Huntsville, AL (we are not getting 3G until December). T-Mobile originally said we would get 3G in November, but additional approvals were needed because of nearby Redstone Arsenal which caused some delay (at least that's what the T-Mobile store rep told me).

kaysesoze, sounds like the network in your area may be having issues, not necessarily the phone...
