ringtone assignment problems

i have rings extended installed and i assign an mp3 from the sd card to be the notification ringtone but it won't work. it just does the default one. anyone else having this problem? am i just a moron? it's very annoying and i can't figure it out. :mad:

I uninstalled this app because it was causing my sms/mms, text and gmail tones to become intermittently silent. And this was whether I used rings extended, or the original android app to select the ringtone. After uninstalling, all tones are back to normal.
