I was getting ~260kbps the day after I got the phone on Edge, and the 3G was so fast it couldn't even give me a speed. LOL.
I'm up in Seattle, btw.

300kbps on 3G? No way. That can't be right.

Sometime it happens to me at home, I would be getting 4 bars and then it goes down to 3 or 2 and comes back to 4
also , I noticed when teh battery is low, you get weak signals, can anyone confirm.
and is there a way to lock the phone to one tower in my location

but this is the thing, ive always gotten 4 bars in my house/neighborhood/city etc... all of a sudden last night it dropped down to 2 bars and then none.. did about 10 master resets, called tmo and they said send it back cause of defect...
mind you i have a tmo wing sitting right next to me on my other line that has 4 full bars and my g1 has 2bars and might get 3 at the most.. on my way to work today it lost signal completely went to no service at all... and where i live in va i get perfect coverage almost everywhere that i go except work. i would rather send it backk and reorder or pick one up at walmart for 148 dollars.

I haven't been able to get on the internet at all on the g1 unless I'm connected via wifi. Everytime I try to get on using 3g it just says it has no connection. I'm supposively in a 3g coverage area as well..

I envy those of you who have 3G available. It's not in our area yet...
I've noticed the thing about the signal bars with all HTC handhelds. I normally have 1-2 bars when I'm not using my phone for anything, but once I call someone, send an SMS etc. it shoots up to 4 bars and when I'm done it goes back down. Could be a build in power saving feature, I don't know.
Just my 2 cents.
Maybe we can confirm this.

i think their test is not accurate. try doing it from
www.dslreports.com
i am getting around 800kbps from 3G which sounds more reasonable
