Need HELP with contacts

Does anyone out there know how to have the contacts show up the "names" shown? Not just the phone numbers, until you swip the screen then the "gray alphabet tab" appears.

You can log into the web interface of you gmail and deal with your contacts there.

Go to http://gmail.com
click on Contacts link
Make sure all your contacts are correct.

Hey Thanx, not sure whats wrong. Went into Gmail contacts, can't find anything to correct my G1 contacts. Anyone with a better idea or what I'm not doing????

So you go to contacts on the G and you're just scrolling through numbers with no names?

No, just numbers come up first. Then when I start to scroll, a little gray button shows up on the right side. Using the button the names show up, first name first. My old phone is a Dash and the contacts showed up last name first and I like it like that. Anyway to have the names show up right away and have them listed last name, first?

GMail Contacts and the Contacts on your android phone are the same contacts. if you have the phone number entered in your gmail contacts for someone, when that person calls, it'll show up their name.
