How to transfer files to sd card

I have done a search and came across a couple of threads regaurding the sd card problem. What im wanting to know is how is there anyone to download the files from the marketplace to the sd card? Or transfer them from the internal memory to the sd card? I have less than 32mb remaining and with browsing the web all of the cookies and cache take up a lot of room.

Or is the only purpose of the sd card to put music and videos on it?

From what i understand this feature is not enabled yet. So your stuck with your phones memory for applications as of now.
