downloading applications?

I am in the begining stages of learning this phone and I was wondering if someone can tell me what version of linux/unix the g1 is running? I know it's the 2.6. I want to start downloading applications. And is there a way to listen to internet radio? I wanted to listen to live365radio but i need an adobe flashplayer if i can even use that? thanks so much,
