I have ran into official release information page where it's stated T-Mobile G1 will be FREE with some of the plans T-Mobile is offering in UK.

Yup, the tarrif is £40 (google says this is $65) a month. Not so cheap. It is Normal for Phones to be free in the UK if bought with a contract, with monthly cost/length of Contract being dependent on the features/Desirability of the phone.
