Notification Reminders

On most phones, if you get a new text message it will notify you, and after every.. 2 minutes or so, it will beep or play something or vibrate again just in case you missed in the first time.

As far as I can tell, Android can't do this. Is there something i'm overlooking?

I havent found this, but I like that it doesn't remind me. I don't think it would be difficult to develop something that satisfies this need for some users.

I'm sure that it would be easy to make a quick app for this (well, for someone who knows how to do that sort of thing) but I mostly keep my phone on vibrate, and the notification vibration is way too subtle.

Maybe A way to change the vibration settings (like different pulses, length of vibration) would really come in handy too. Once again, wouldn't expect that to be too hard for someone who knows the android code
