So I exchanged my G1 today . . .

So I had a few keys on the keyboard that were more flush than they were suppose to be. Like they were indented in a little or something. Something that a lot of people seem to have. And my screen was some what loose and creaking. Tmobile told me to send it in for a replacement. I put it in the mail today, took the tracking number to a tmobile store and they gave me a new one on the spot ! ! ! Didnt have to wait like 2 weeks for a replacement. I love their customr service I never had a problem with them. Been with them since Voicestream ! ! !

As far as for the creaking thats gone and my screen feels more solid. But as for the keyboard its almost the same as the one I sent back to Tmobile just a little better o_O I showed the manager and he said I was the first one to point it out to him. What I dont understand is that the one they have on display the keyboard is perfect on it. And im on my 2nd G1 and the keybaord is basically the same. So iono what to do about it ? ? ? Try to exchange it for a 3rd time o_O ? ?!?! ?

But I think the G1 keyboard is generally flush mounted. Many many reviewers have explained this, so its not really something new. I just think that's how the phone is meant to be.

Mine is creeking to and the battery i think might be worst then most. i was thinking of exchanging it but don't want to go 2 weeks without it. Maybe ill call TMobile and try the same thing.

Keyboard is pretty flat, that's just the way the phone is unfortunately.:(

When I first got the phone, I noticed it. Starting typing it on and really doesn't bother me as much.

Go to settings > locations > use wireless networks, turn it off, and see if battery life improves. Seems to have helped mine out.

After all the trashtalk about the keyboard I actually find it to be extremely easy to use.
Coming from the BB 8800 I always used my fingernails to get the buttons. With this phone I though I would have to as well, but I just go with it and I barely miss a letter. They had to make it flat obviously for the slideout.
I cant feel a certain push all the time, but when Im done its usually perfect.

I say Kudos on the greatest flat keyboard Ive ever used.

I know its flush but I mean certain keys are more flushed than others. Like the D, E, R, F. Like they are basically flat with the board compared to the others.

I don't mind the keyboard, it took some getting used to coming from my sidekick, but it's not bad. My biggest problem is pressing the ENTER button when trying to delete and sending a half-text message.

yeah, i like it too, except when the phone is plugged in . . . then there's interference. Oh well, I hate laptop because of their little keyboards, but for its size this G1 keyboard is pretty well engineered.

I would like to of returned my phone but t-mobile told me that. They said that if i send my phone in they dont know when i will receive my next one. Because according to T-Mobile all phones are on back-order. :)

My keys are all about the same height and my g1 doesn't creak.

However, I'm concerned that over time I might mash these keys down with use.

Def should have gone with a sidekick style keyboard on the g1

someone pointed out it may be a molding flaw...with so many damn threads about it it'll be hard to find though. something about cutting off a piece of plastic that is between the hinge...search for it.

Yea, the keyboard should be almost flush, but the wobbly-ness of the screen hinge bothers me, because it started to do that, just the second day i got, so if it gets worse I will be going into my local tmo store and seeing whats up

As for the creak.. I intend on ordering one of the screen protectors that comes with a spare.. whichever one I end up ruining, I'm going to trim and place a slither of it where the creaking noise is coming from.. I'm about 110% sure this will fix the problem..:D
