Im not sure what the correct term is for that "Menu" you slide open that has all the apps in it...but can you create a folder inside of that?

I'd like to be able to create folders, too, or have some way to better organize in order to more easily navigate the ton of apps I'm putting on my G1.

For example, I might want to organize all my GPS apps together, or notepad/tip calculators, etc.

But you can this. Just long press on the screen, select shortcut, then folder. Create as many as desired. I use several folders that way I don't have to slide up the icon lists to find the app I am looking for.

The OP is talking about the pop up app list. NO you cannot put folders in there. Aritafari, you are describing how you add folders to one of your 3 homescreen panes or "desktop".

I rarely go in the apps list anymore. I have my desktop separated into 3 distinct catagories, and then folders from there... thats the only way my OCD could handle all the apps I'm trying out!

Same thing for me. 3 categories, then folders. Makes more sense than trying to create folders in the apps list.

This'll work for me. It's a good work around for not being able to organize the apps list itself into folders. Thanks very much for the idea!
