So I turned on the GPS, and then I tried to find "My Location" on the Map, but it keeps showing my location as the location of the nearest cell tower (at least I presume that's what it is as it is out in the middle of the water and obviously im not there.)

How do I get the GPS to find me?

I didn't need to see the sky for my G1 to find me...and I was on EDGE (3g in my office is pretty weak).

You mean the GPS won't work from my nuclear holocaust bunker?


LOL yeah, I'm sitting right in front of a HUGE window at work. The GPS icon shows up on the notification bar, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

did you set it to use the satalites under the security location menu? it uses more battery so its not checked by default

No, not to use the GPS. Did you un-check the box that says something about using cell towers and wifi to find your location? You find that menu when you long-press on the dot on the map.

when you long press the dot? ..which dot you're refering to, the lil cursor dot or the dot representing you on the map dot ?

I live in Buffalo and my location always comes up as France. LOL

All my apps show info in French because of it.

ROFL! Sorry i had a good laugh at your unfortunate GPS situation.

Lol GPS is awesome but... damn it just eats away at the battery.
