When I select a contact and go to SMS the data entry field is automatically the number. Would it not stand to reason that if I picked a specific contact I would not want to edit it? I would like to be able to just start typing my message.

It would also be nice to be able to send an SMS from the call log instead of just a direct dial maybe?

On the call log just long press the contact and it will open a window that will alow you to sms

And why doesn't the contact's name appear in the "To:" line?

I second that. When I choose multiple recipients, it doesn't really help to display several phone numbers that all look the same to me.

It appears above the "to" line
